The Annual Bubble Discussion Thread - 2021 Version

As someone who had Fresno +8.5 I’m pretty sure they tanked that game

why on earth would you want to face a team whose coach knows our zone like the back of his hand?

Normally I’d agree with you but Nova lost their starting PG for the year a couple games ago.

Since then, they lost to Providence and Georgetown. They aren’t the same team. Will be interesting to see how much the selection committee drops them in seeding.

Bracket matrix has us as the last team in, with 89 brackets having us in and the next closest being Ole Miss with 23 brackets projecting them in. Boise state is the first team above us and they’re projected in 106 brackets, trailing their in conference foe Colorado State, with 112 brackets including the Rams. Multiple brackets also include us above the 12 seed- play in line, 16 from my count.

Updated NET rankings are out. There’s good news and bad news:

Good News: Syracuse held steady at 39 even with the loss. Would be nice if they can hang on to that spot heading into Sunday.

Good News: NC State held at 72. So that remains a Q1 win for now.

Bad News: UNC actually dropped a spot to 33. Pretty much all the teams around them won yesterday (some of them winning big). Looks like UNC will have to win again tonight for the opportunity to become a Quad 1 win.

We are now included on 89 of the 127 brackets featured on the Bracket Matrix web site.

Most of the people not including Syracuse are the people who have not updated their brackets in a couple of days.

We are the last at large team in overall according to the collective.

As the older bracket updates trickle in, I expect us to trade places with Boise State. They will fall below 100 votes and be the last team in.

I have checked a bunch of the people who do not include us. Some have newer brackets not updated on the bracketmatrix site. Of those, we are listed on almost all of them.

Just gotta root for the favorites to win the rest of the tournaments. I think UB winning the MAC would be good for us. The biggest threat from a big name school to take our spot is probably Mississippi. Need them to lose today against LSU.

It’s going to sound like east coast bias, but lots of bad basketball in some of those western conferences last night. Hard to watch those games and think any of those teams are better than us. The one thing we do is we don’t turn the ball over and it makes us look really good compared to these other teams.

This makes no sense at all. Glad we stayed where we were and didn’t lose a spot. But UNC should have moved up with a win but dropped.

Some additional good news is Buffalo moved to a Quad 2 win. Georgetown is still a quad 3, holding at 83. If they win against Seton Hall I don’t expect much of a jump. So this may stay a Q3. And frankly that HAS to be the last game they win, otherwise they steal a bid.

If you just take a current snapshot of all the bubble teams resumes updated to now , and ignore who was considered last four in or first four out ... or next four out ... remove all that ... there’s no way we shouldn’t be in .. there just isn’t

I stayed up and watched some of those games last night. Those teams like Colorado St and Boise St are not good basketball teams.

the eye test would take all the MW teams out. the only time many of these teams look good is when the shoot lights out.
