The B1G

You know what the Big Ten needs?
UConn football that win over Stony Brook is just what that conference needs. #DreamB1G
If UCONN joined that would make the BIG 3 of the B1G UCONN, MD and Rutgirls. Hmmm.

This is too funny...

Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State all have to play each other yet.

Not one of the teams in the B1G have a signature win over a top opponent OOC. Their strength of schedule is now terrible because they can only play other crappy in conference opponents.

Contenders for playoff spots IMO:
Pac 12 - Oregon or USC
SEC - Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, LSU
ACC - Florida State, Louisville, UNC, Va Tech, Syracuse(just because)
B1G - Michigan State, Nebraska
Big 12 - Oklahoma, Baylor

So the entire big ten is eliminated from the playoffs before Syracuse is. Wonder what the odds wouldve been for that prop bet after last week?
Pretty sure Syracuse was eliminated last week...

If we run the table, I guarantee we would get in. I would probably win the lotto before this happens, but it is possible. We would have wins over Pitt, FSU, Louisville, ND, Duke and Clemson. Four ranked teams and 2 very strong but unranked teams. That would be a resume that would be impossible for the committee to ignore.

ACC football has the best mix of teams and geography. ACC football is where the action is at . Has Delaney's head exploded yet?

Plus a victory over the, likely, ranked coastal champ ( probably VT or UNC) in Charlotte.

  • Plenty of football to be played before you can say they eliminated themselves from the playoff. MSU runs the table? They're in the discussion. Not a lock (schedule blows), but in the discussion.

As of today, the B1 G has lost all of its major non conference games. What does it mean to run through a B1G season undefeated when the 2nd best team in your conference lost to the 3rd or 4th best team in the ACC and Wisconsin loses to the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC West? Rutgers has the best OOC win for that dumpster fire of a conference.

And MSU itself kind of got steamrolled in the 2nd half. Things can change, but I don't see how MSU could get in over a 1 loss ACC, SEC or PAC 12 team.

I agree with most of what you say. All I was disagreeing with was the statement that "the B1G has eliminated itself from the playoff in week two". I don't believe that is the case. Lots can happen over the course of a season.

Why are you ruining my fantasy?!

You're right though. One of the great things about college football is that it usually doesn't play out the way we expect.

Michigan State at 12-1 would be in the discussion for a playoff spot, but I don't think they would get in unless the other schools have more flaws. Michigan State is legit they played in one of the top 5 toughest stadiums and hung with Oregon for 2.5 quarters before Oregon woke up.

They are the only B1G team left who could make the playoffs. To be honest Michigan State has looked better than Florida State right now. FSU has played lethargic these first games, but they are uber talented and will just need to win games with their schedule being good enough this year.

Here's mine - somehow a non Power 5 slips in. Maybe from the MAC - just so the BIG can be called L'il Mac.

And the SEC cannabalizes itself, leaving only two loss teams and no playoff birth.

Leaving the other 3 spots to the ACC, PAC and Big 12 - possibly with the ACC getting two of the bids.

How fun would that be?

SEC champ with 2 losses or less will be a playoff team. The SEC honestly could get 2 this year. UGA will have an easier schedule in the East and could be undefeated hosting Auburn.
SEC West champ IMO will be a playoff team. Bama, Auburn, A&M, Ole Miss, LSU is ridiculous for 1 division. That champ should get a playoff berth.

It's a well done ad. It even features their network, by way of a satellite in orbit at the end.

This one? (don't know why it's so choppy)

Yes , and they ended the commercial with their marquee program , very smart. I'm sure that Delaney had the B1G marketing people consult with RutgersAl on the project.

I think I will wait until they play somebody before I elevate them to that lofty perch. They have another 3 games before they are tested. With their schedule, they could go 5-0 before being tested. If they do go 5-0 they might get some votes - maybe enough to get into the bottom of the T25 but they won't stay there. IMO Pitt doesn't have a QB to be a top 25 team.

Quite the sked. They may not play a top 25 team this season.

Because they beat Delaware and BC? NOT.

By this logic, should Oklahoma be #4 after beating Tulsa and Louisiana Tech? Baylor at #10 for beating Northwestern State and SMU? Preaseason and early rankings are a joke, meaningless and unfair to the other 100 teams.

No team should be ranked until Week 6. Unfortunately, it will never happen with tv money involved (i.e. "This Saturday, #5 Blahblah U. and superstar freshman QB Joe Sample takes on defensive powerhouse #13 Whatever Tech. ONLY on ESPN2. Check local listings.")

Let's Go Orange!!!

Awesome add.

Rutgers should be in the ACC.

Swofford totally screwed that one up.

GREAT Ad. Obviously someone thinks what the BiG has done in terms of conference expansion is Game of Thrones-like and took advantage of it.

Now someone needs to take this and modify it showing their blood and guts all over their lands as a result of their poor play on the field.

Cheers,
Neil
