I think so.Is Holy Cross in the Big East now?
I thought Seton Hall was Plan B after Holy Cross. I could be wrong, though.Ironic that Holy Cross turned down the Big East in 1979...I think BC was the Booby Prize

True. What could have been.Ironic that Holy Cross turned down the Big East in 1979...I think BC was the Booby Prize
I think they will be there at the end and I would not underestimate them. Drummond seems to be starting to live up to the hype. Him & Oriachi give them two very good bigs. They are very talented at the guard spot with Lamb, Napier, and Boatwright. Not sure what they really have at the 3 spot, but if they can get adequate play from there, they will be very, very tough. If you want a good laugh go over to the Uconn board. They had a 30 something point win against Holy Cross, can you say Championship ? God bless em!
Actually, it's very interesting. Another BB-only instead of an all-sports school. If BC hadn't been asked (assuming TexanMark is right and I am wrong) and Holy Cross accepted, the "balance of power" may have shifted. Then again, BC probably would have been invited later (maybe over Rutgers, who may have been left out until the 2nd or 3rd expansion, if they had a football team left at that point).True. What could have been.
I would like both teams to be at their best.Say what you want about Calhoun but the guy knows how to develop and coach a team up so it improves all year and plays at its best late in the season. I wish we could play them early in January because by late Feb when we see them they will be real good.
I don't think we can use last years tournament as a good example. That was just a terrible tournament. OSU was the only great team in that field. Its always funny to see how quickly fans forget. UConn looked like warmed-over turds at the end of last season, but went on to win the whole enchilada.
Calhoun is one helluva a coach, and frankly, some of the posts in this thread are a little short-sighted. How anyone can dismiss UConn based on a cupcake blowout of Holy Cross is beyond me.
Perhaps we should wait until we play them before making blanket assumptions on how good they are. Those who made that mistake last year did so at their own peril. Are we better than them? Maybe...but we sure as hell can't claim a NC in December, based on subjective poll rankings.
I think most of the UConn fans are "excited" over their blowout win vs. Holy Cross because they really haven't blown anybody out this year. While we've routinely had 30+ point victories, the Huskies haven't. They've been grinding out 10 to 15 point wins vs. very poor teams. I think their fans have been frustrated coming of a NC title, have extremely high expectations, and were just happy to see a dominant victory. One of the titles of their threads after Holy Cross win .
"Are we really this good?"
Random thought, is it me or does oleander look like peter pan?
Sounds like somebody needs to sing a Christmas Carol.syracusefan.com where its more important to be #1 in dec than to win the tournament.
go ahead, keep making fun of them. bees should open the flood gates and let a whole bunch of them in here carrying their 3x National Champions bling, including the most recent one...and let them sandusky you all.
Oh Lord
