The coaching absolutely stinks

People laughed at me last year for saying this but give Langel two good recruiters on his staff and he would kill it here. Guy is a stud. Coached circles around a HOFer two years in a row and they look legit every year in March.

JB has also poisoned the careers of his staff - GMAC, Autry, et al. What self-respecting program would want them after this?

It would be like being a VP at Enron. You might actually be one hell of an executive, but who in hell is gonna hire you after that?

To be fair, I laughed at you for completely different, yet obvious, reasons…

Just like last year it looked like 6 on 4 on defense for many possessions.

Someone has to watch that tape after some hard drugs and count the open looks Colgate got.

It’s ridiculous stuff. When they missed it was still a good shot. That’s literally the goal of basketball.

The “he deserves to go out on his own terms” crowd are the absolute worst. Was he not paid all the years he was working? In the immortal words of Chris rock, when you’re at a restaurant you’re accustomed to eating, when you leave , you ain’t eating no mo’ … they don’t owe you a steak. Well coach been at the restaurant and been fed well. Congrats on your accomplishments. Every ride ends .

Holly Rowe just asked Izzo “how did you come up with such a great inbounds play at the end of the game?”

Izzo- “that was all my assistant coaches. They drew up a great play and they do such a great job with the inbounds plays. They deserve a lot of credit”

Do you think you would ever hear JB say that? NO BECAUSE HE DOESNT TALK TO HIS COACHES. THIS IS A BIG REASON WHY THE COACHING STINKS

Why do our assistants remain so loyal to him and refuse to speak up?

Well realistically, the only thing that could make this worse is if there was an open insurrection in the public view. Nobody would benefit from that. The assistants are professionals, if they have something to say to coach or anyone in the admin, they would do it behind closed doors as they should.

That’s not why you wouldn’t hear that. You wouldn’t hear that cause he’d take credit for it

Nobody every cuts hard on offense. Just going through the motions until a PnR or iso ball.

Our senior guard's effort level on defense is a slap in the face to the dudes on the bench that can't get in the game behind him.

I'm still amazed at all the open looks that Colgate had. Simple ball movement, moving the ball around and easily finding an unguarded man on the perimeter. We have athletic guys this year who should have dominated and overwhelmed this Colgate team. Why didn't we play man defense when the zone wasn't working? This team is so bad I don't even know where to start. The quality of the players, the coaching, the passion, the will to fight was all there in the Michigan State/Kentucky game and later on the Kansas/Duke game. I remember when we were of that caliber and it seems so long ago.

It was only a few years ago when we lost to UB and it was embarrassing. Something that should never happen. Now UB losing to us would be embarrassing for them.

This is a team with little talent (recruiting) and one that is obviously VERY poorly coached. This was quite evident last night.

It’s also why the next SU head coach shouldn’t come from the bench

It is going to be a very bad season - one of the worst in Boeheim's tenure. The only good that can come out of it is if finally the AD and/or Boeheim pull the plug and start over, which should have happened years ago.

I can't comprehend how this was allowed to happen. Never would I imagine that Buffalo would be more highly regarded than SU and that Colgate would dominate us 2 years in a row in the same fashion and we'd have no answers. We have a new and improved Dome with a dedicated fan base that is over 30k fans at big games and over 20k at regular conference games, a top notch training facility that is up there with the best in college basketball, a storied history and we've been reduced to this? We lose out consistently on big recruits and the major ones in our backyard really don't even consider us, or they simply give us a courtesy consideration or visit, mainly because they get invited to our summer day camp and receive an offer.

Not even Duke, Kentucky, or Kansas with their great coaches would put up with this if coach K, Calipari or Self allowed their program to take this kind of turn. They'd be gone sooner rather than later.

The program should always be bigger than any coach. If not, you end up in the place where SU and Georgetown basketball currently sits.

I've said this for years. We are the only college basketball program I'm aware of where a) the assistants don't sit next to the head coach and b) the head coach never consults with the assistants in-game.

Did K consult with JB when JB was his assistant I wonder.
