the crane the crane

Quick update:

They removed all of the strand jacks from the top of the crown trust yesterday. I believe they also finished attaching the wingees to the dual cables. You can really see the future shape of the roof now if you look at this picture.

Word is the steel stored on Thompson Road has been moved and we should see some steel, going up starting Monday. Yay!

Like I mentioned the other day, the solid part of the roof looks steep. This helps to explains the bubbles. It will help to slide snow off the roof . The bubbles will keep the snow from piling up.

Don't suppose there's been any thoughts on hitting all the old exposed concrete with a pressure washer prior to reinstalling electronics and seats has there?

There aint enough simple green in Onondaga County to get rid of the years of dome foam baked into that concrete. I know section 249 row a is pretty well covered.

That rain storm last weekend should have detoxified the contamination somewhat...

I never really thought of that, but the pounding rain from thunderstorms plus the other rain/snow melt should give everything a pretty good washdown

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, it looks like some of the bleachers are installed in the northeast corner. Upper and lower deck.

Yeah it looked like in the latest video that Haynor put out that lot of the lower level bleachers are back.

They are definitely working with some lighting at his very moment. I tuned in at 10:30 pm and noticed them playing with a spot light like light running it within the dome around the truss, etc. It also appeared to me that the hue was changing on the other lighting within the dome as well. Then again it is late, and I have had a few beers, so I could be seeing things, lol !

Are there any plans to dress up the exterior facade of the building? I feel like it’s going to look a little odd with a new modern roof on top of an old plain concrete building. I understand that is what is supporting the new roof, but maybe something kind of like what Norte Dame did when they renovated their stadium several years ago. They built a new facade around the existing original one. Just a thought. Or at least dress it up a little bit. Maybe this is part of the future phases of the project, but I haven’t really heard anything besides when they originally announced that they wanted to add more natural lighting around the building. But it seems that idea might have gotten scratched. Does anyone have any insight here? Thanks!

No.

Are louvres around the top still in play?
Were the louvres an actual design element or just something we were throwing around because of other stadiums done by Pfeifer that have them?

They were mentioned, other than here. Why I'm asking.

Three of the four big cranes are in the air. Only the red one in Walt's yard is down.

Still worry about some kind of issue with that crane. It has rarely been up in the air, and when it has, crews were working on it. Walt the Red appears to be on the DL. Upper body injury of some kind.

Was told that open area west of the dome near Walt the Red was going to have some steel moved to it today. We will see.

The whole project has been very interesting to watch but getting the actual roof up might be the most interesting part to me. Greatly looking forward to seeing how they do it.
