the crane the crane

I'm getting the impression that most of us here had...

some or all of these toys as a kid: Lincoln Logs, Legos, Erector Sets and plastic/metal model car, ships and plane kits

Amirite?

BTW, this is getting really interesting with the geometry of all of it...

its just another extension to the triangle.. going under the ring was interesting to watch though

Yes, looks like that bar sits on top of one of the sides of one of the triangles, presumably to reinforce it. I am assuming we will have 3 triangles on each side when all is said and done...definitely did not anticipate them reinforcing the sides.

I see the big joist girder getting attached to a cable now. Looks like it is headed up. Will it connect the tips of the two triangles? We should know soon.

Looks like connecting... the two triangles to a single point and not across.

It looks like that joist girder is following the cable and got attached on the other end to a wingee. I think the wingees are coming into play for the first time now.

Yeah, that threw me at first. I didn't anticipate it following the cable and thought there would be a further triangle to connect. Looks like business will be picking up shortly.

It is pretty confusing. The girder joist they have up marks the boundary between the hard shell and the PTFE sections of the roof. The cable it is connected to runs directly to the middle triangle on the south wall. The cables on the middle triangle on the south wall run to the middle triangles on the east and west walls, and so on and so on. I think the diamond border between the roof sections is special and might be be the only stretch of cables that gets the girder joist treatment.

There’s steel being put into place on the west and south walls.
Looks like the two triangles are finished on all four walls and the focus now is on getting joist girders up. This applies to all four walls.

There is one installed on the west and south walls, and one in the process of getting installed on the east and north walls. Looks like that is where things will end for today.

These big pieces of steel might not be joist girders but that is what they look like to me.

Guilty as charged.

I literally would sit for hours drawing stadiums.
I have an 11 y/o who has drawn stadiums since he was 5. He still does but he also builds them with everything from legos to jenga pieces to magna-tiles, to plain old cardboard and plywood. The stadium types don't matter, basketball, football, car racing, soccer, you name it...

The boys got an early start. I believe all 4 greater triangles are now completed.

They need to move fast. At this rate it will take 4-6 weeks just to complete the steel and they would still have to install the roofing material.

No need to move fast if there is no football season and, maybe, no hoops either.

When I saw my nephew playing SimCity for the first time in a video game I was blown away.
On the outside I had to be the adult and just say this is cool. On the inside I was giddy with the excitement of a a 10 yr old. I wished I was a kid again.
Not to take this off subject but my man there is nothing wrong with you gaming with your son. Its a great way to connect if that is something he likes. I play Siege and COD with my teenager son at least once a week. Try it, you will like it.

Do it. My son kicks my butt in FIFA and NBA2K every week. It's good bonding time.
