the crane the crane

These renovations are going to be a sudden uptick in recruiting that’s my opinion and I cannot wait, it’s already happening but now that it’s done and people or players get to see it just wait and see baby here we go Syracuse football, basketball, lacrosse on the rise

I’m late to the party but why did they build that giant extension on top Across the circumference of the building only to put Essentially the same type of bubble roof on top I was hopeful by they were going to build a flat roof with more transparency like Indy and ninny. did that get scraped in a budget cut ? from the pictures the outside looks very unfinished But that’s going to be the finished product yuck!

playing afternoon basketball games made the roof choice with more transparency than before but not like the stadiums you mentioned

Indy and Minny were built from scratch.

The Dome had to work within the constraints of the existing walls.

6 million pounds of steel = same type of bubble roof:rolleyes:

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but will more light come in as the PTFE bleaches?

No. You must go back to page one and read the entirety of the thread in order to receive enlightenment.

We already know about Benny Williams and DIor Johnson!!! those classes are not even finished yet, scary good! you get jimmy B.. talent it’s 2003 all over again

wow that really does look amazing with the lights effect

A new chapter began today with a win
the crowd noise was louder than a din

When the new turf, lighting and scoreboard came alive
it made me smile, all the work has to be rated a ten

Dino's players were held up at the start but finally
took the field or should I call the new digs a casino

Our offense was mostly on. Devito finally threw some
long TD's and the offense was making some sense

It could not match the D which with four interceptions-
an interception and lateral fit into the day like a T

Trill is his name and some day on Sundays he,
IMO, will be playing for us all in the NFL

Cisco ran into his own team mate before the game
began, an owie the coach says, he'll be back a hero

Nice, we had a chance to see some true frosh play well
especially Tucker who took it to the house twice

The entire game was full of better looking SU plays that
mattered, a game that thankfully didn't go down to the wire

We still seem wide open on the ground up the middle
and hopefully we'll learn that 343 and become fit as a fiddle

The renovations look spiffy - I have to go back to acknowledge
how great everything looks... pretty damn zippy

It's all begun again for all and especially us Craniacs, the
look of it, the new feeling, this surely ain't going to be no rerun

Hope, I can't wait to see JB and his charges take the floor in
their new confines under that scoreboard it's really going to be dope

Ahhh, the ginger ale, soda, dogs, beer, burgers, and all of the food and drink
will combine to provide new odors of the new Dome that's almost like a spa

Yep, ain't it great, just when you think you've seen it all a new book begins
and I sit here with a grin thinking that we and SU have just taken A GIANT STEP

F O R W A R D!!!! (Didn't rhyme but whaddaya going to do?)

Bet you all enjoyed this special day, I hope you did, if you didn't tough
now it's time for me to go put my hair in a net. ;) :)

A little late, but still pretty.

Just a post noting that there are still a lot of boxes up on the roof and still workers walking around doing stuff.

It is hard to tell definitively given how different the light is at different times on different days but I think the PTFE panels are getting lighter. No dramatic changes but I think they are getting lighter.

I wonder when work will finally finish? I am guessing by the end of this week. Would guess that they would really like everything wrapped up before the Duke game on October 10th, assuming NYS bends a bit and starts letting limited numbers attend home games in person.

Does anyone know if they have opened up the areas fenced off for the cranes yet? It would be really hard to manage hosting a game with fans, even 5 or 10K, if all those areas surrounding the dome that have been closed off for construction are still closed off.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like the piped in noise at the dome was loud. Louder than the piped in noise at other ACC stadia. Geoff Collins mentioned it in his post game comments (but not as an excuse). The TV commentators did too.

Does anyone know if any of the local media gave any opinions on the sound in the dome? Chris Carlson said the music was clearer and it was easier to understand announcements but that was it.

I guess we really won't know if the new roof is louder or not for sure until after the first game with a big crowd. That probably won't happen until at least September of 2021.

I think Dino even noted in his post gamer presser how loud it was. I think he equated it to a kid getting a new stereo and just cranking the volume knob.

I wonder if it's just a case of not having a great idea of the acoustics in there yet. No fans make the sound bounce around a lot too.

It looks like they may have covered the field with plastic after the game? Seems they may be doing more work- hopefully taking down the discolored netting.
