The elephant in the room

1. We must like different types of football. Uninteresting teams?? The Big East replaced two awful offensive teams with Boise, Houston, SMU, and San Diego St. Those teams like to score points and I like that. All of those teams would have beaten SU this year (and RU for those questioning my loyalties.)

2. I will make a gentlemens bet right now that the following happens: a) Big East's new tv contract will net each school more money than the ACC schools. B) Big East keeps its automatic bid. Hypothetically who'd you rather face in a conference championship year in and year our, Boise or FSU/Miami?

3. Newsflash: winning sells.

We can agree to disagree and I know this may sound "defeatist" but I am personally concerned. The timing of this move couldn't be worse for SU football. This may set the program back another four or five years. We simply do not have the talent to compete with VT, FSU, Clemson, and even UVA (who has an abundance of young talent and a great coach). I don't like playing for 5th in the ACC as some have suggested as opposed to playing for 1st in the Big East. But again, just my opinion.

Those are uninteresting programs. Unless Marshall Falk, Andre Ware, and Eric Dickerson come back, no one here gives a hoot about those schools. However, we are now moving to a conference that is full of schools very similar to SU, where SU fans actually live. And playing for 5th in the ACC still gets you a better bowl than 2nd or 3rd in the Big East.

no way we could turn down a acc invite-
it was either grab a great life preserver or wait till another came floating by-and the ones left floating around didnt give su a upgrade unless it was the big 10 and imho su would have died football wise in the big10-

the acc is ripe for the picking if su can become fun to watch again

I think we can sum this all up with Butgers is still praying for a spot in the better ACC.

I miss Penn St., I will miss UWV,
excited to go with Pitt, slighly happy to join BC again, Love the opportunity to play V-Tech, Hope the U returns to what it was.
Glad to have MD back as a rival In short Excited about every team but Duke.

think theVille and Cincinati go to the Big 12

UCONN to ACC next round with NOTRE DAME

then RUTGERS to ???? South Florida to CON USA

I'd stay away from betting on your hunches that ND, Rutgers or UConn will ever be a member of the ACC.

Every month that goes by weakens those odds. It's one thing for the ACC to have a couple of Northern teams. It's yet another to change the balance of the Conference.

I'm shocked no one is commenting on the game. I'll go along with it.

Any elephant that clearly states that Rutgers football surpassed Syracuse football almost a decade ago is going to be ignored by a board full of Syracuse fans wishing/hoping/dreaming of better days.

Well, I would consider myself more realist than many on this board when it comes to what Rutgers has become, but let's not get carried away. They enjoyed the GRob years, but then lost 2 in a row, and were basically 1 play better than us in 2011. They were last in the league just one year ago and weren't bowling. They had an ok year, obviously better than us. 4-3 in the Big East, 4-1 in a very weak non conference schedule. Nice bowl win. They were basically Syracuse last year. So maybe we'll be Rutgers again next year. If that program is considered ahead of us, it's not nearly as far as it was about 4 years ago.

THEY WILL RENEGOTIATE WHEN THEY GET TO 14 TEAMS WITH ESPN, THEN GO TO 16 AND RENEGOTIATE AGAIN. TWO MORE TEAM WILL BE INVITED AND APPROVED.

The ACC - ESPN Contract allowed the ACC to renegotiated if they added two more teams. They did so because the market price had so obviously changed based on the PAC 10 deal.

No such incentive will exist to add two more teams. Unless these rather odd factors reappear in the future. No incentive. No expansion.

These facts about the reasons for the current expansion are availble to anyone who takes the time to read them.

and I'd stay away from using CAPS for emphasis when you haven't done your homework.

Ok great thanks for questioning my fandom again. Believe what you want pal.

I too believe that you're a Rutgers troll in pseudo SU fan clothing. But if this tired act makes you happy who am I to rain on your parade. I live in NJ and literally hate every time I see one of those over-sized Rs somewhere. And you've bled and sweat more for the program than some on here??? Come on bro...you're sounding ridiculous! Troll to your hearts content...no one is buying what you're selling here. Now where's that ignore button?

I agree with all that. I wasn't getting carried away at all... over the last almost 10 years, they have the better program. It's as simple as that. I'm not saying they are in a whole other league or some higher level than SU, just that for this decade, they are the better program. And people on this board can deride them and dismiss them and their coach as much as they want, but their coach is more successful that our last two coaches and it's not even close. It just makes us look bad, in my opinion. Like arguing with an idiot. Eventually, people can't tell who the more irrelevant program is.
