I am convinced that in order to have some sanity, one has to pick a second team to root for. For me it has been Iowa State for the past 10 years, but it could be something as simple as rooting for Siena and GMAC. I can see where at on paper this team has the ability win, but after watching 10 games I am just gonna have to dismiss them. I told my daughter today I would be should be really pissed, but it is hard when the team truly just sucks. I won't stop watching, but I will not expect them to win another game this year. I don't think it is on the coaches completely, although they did assemble this group together, that is totally on them. The players simply are not good enough, they don't fight enough. And I sadly don't see that changing. This team is basically playing 3 on 5 offensively every possession, and no one seems to want to improve. Or are just unable too. By far I am most disappointed with Bell. He has no value to the team at all right now. Anyhow I am getting off point. Just pick another teamout of another conference to root for, and things won't seem so bad.

Years ago a loss like this would eat at me for days. While
I still root for them to play well and win, mediocrity
has set into the program and the outcome of any game
just doesn't matter. 17,000 fans at the game tells you
I'm not alone.

As a Giants fan, this is what I did for this year. Lets go Buffalo!

Not sure why this is necessary. I don’t need a second college basketball team. I only watch SU games anyway. There’s enough NBA and NFL to occupy the rest of the time. And the interminable MLB offseason… ugghhh….

Super Mega Baseball 4 is the only therapy I need.

That Iowa / Iowa State game was pretty decent the other night. Was shocked Iowa held the lead as long as they did. Wish we had Gilbert or any of ISU's guards...

for me it helps see the true landscape of college basketball. You see a lot of different teams and you watch more intensely when you have more vested.

The game was crazy, Iowa led all game. I should have tried to get tickets for the game, but it just so happened that we were trying to get everything done for my son's graduation from Bradley. He earned his doctorate. My son was born at the hospital there so he has always been a Hawkeye fan. But yeah Iowa State is legit. With Gilbert, and Jones off the bench, they have a heck of a one-two punch. They have had a few other guys really stepping out last few games too. It was a really good game, and Iowa made just enough shots to make it interesting.

They may have announced 17,000, but I was told it was 12K-ish. We've fallen off a cliff. It's bad and change is necessary.

I would say I’ll just watch more hockey but the Rangers are a complete disaster this year as well.

Congrats!! A good reason to miss the big game. :)

Yeah, ISU is a really fun team to watch. It's an easy team to root for too. Even though I was pulling for the Hawkeyes.

If Sandfort stayed hot from 3 for Iowa they may have had a shot at holding them off. It was an impressive effort though, I thought ISU might have a shot at blowing them out heading into the game. They are very legit.

Maybe it‘s paradoxical—I’ve seen every SU game (-1) since ‘85, but I’m not really interested that much in college basketball. Definitely prefer the nba. Except for us.

It’s possible that I was a bit more interested in the rest of the college field back when we might face the best teams in the land in the NCAA tournament, but that was a long time ago and I’m too old to remember how I used to feel. The other thing is that watching good college teams just makes me more upset about the state we’re in. Call it envy, and I don’t like that feeling.

I definitely relate. Personally I watch more NBA because the gap in quality is as vast as I can remember. Simply it is just way better basketball.
Also I am definitely envious of other programs. Wins and losses but mainly we represent nothing. What is Red's core foundation - defense (um no), motion offense (um no), intensity, frenetic style...soft, lazy, undisciplined and lacking hoop sense are not core values.
