The mass exodus is silent around here

Broadcasting rights and licensing are part of athletics budget. As are other mostly token useless things like ticket sales and merch.
Note that while there might be “two sets of books”, it’s not really.

Schools like Vanderbilt with medical and certain (debt rating) issues are separate entities. But athletics is never a separate org - it goes up to/through the university.

My friend's daughter had Cuse as her first choice but her Dad said no way because of the cost.
My kid won't apply bc of cost & the dip in academic standing. He has good grades & some in state schools are apparently ranked higher. Bums me out greatly.

Can confirm like 98% remitted tuition for dependents, participation in the Tuition Exchange Program, and like 98% remitted tuition for spouses is among the current benefits of SU employees.
I'm a proud beneficiary of that very program. Thanks Dad!

As a former academic (and other professions), I can tell you that rankings are meaningless. Kids should not make college choice decisions based on these. See the article in the Atlantic: How the Ivy League Broke America.

Numbers-wise, how many players are on scholarship after the portal entries?

Thank you, I couldn't find it for some reason.

Agree. Unfortunately, my wife is an academic too & it seems to matter to her. I'm trying to convince him to apply anyway.

He also wants an odd major that SU doesn't have & these dumb FL schools do, herpetology. We'll see. He's in at USF & FSU. Waiting on UF, which is a decent school.

They also shouldn’t base decisions on list price. Nobody outside a small group pays list.

The high quality schools at SU are still good. Would never recommend it for arts and science degree though unless money is no issue.

Kyle leading the country in passing yards while Eddie averaging 9 points/7 rebounds/3 assists
Well, what would Eddie do if he had the ball on every offensive possession?

Can’t imagine there is much of a future in the Study of Herpes.

I got accepted out of occ and my parents said no way they couldnt afford it then. I cant even fathom sending a kid there today
I so lucked out on college tuition for all 4 of my kids.

My eldest daughter went to SU on the Say Yes program, free tuition to all Syracuse City School District grads who got accepted and now has a great marketing job.

The next two daughters went to Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC on Say Yes and are working at Giorgio Armani HQ and Kith HQ in NY. Then the youngest, Mr. Boots got a baseball scholarship (full) for undergrad at Le Moyne and because of a covid year and medical redshirt he is finishing his masters at St. Johns this year, still on a full baseball scholarship.

Damn, why is it I still don't have money . . .

But you do have 4 successful kids to take care of you in your dotage. ;)

See kid item numbers 1-4. Add in Momarules, houserules, carsrules 1 - whatever, dogrules, and catrules. Then multiply by life. Finally divide by paycheck.

I hope this helps.

On a serious note, congrats. Teaching your kids to be independent, three are already successful and #4 is well on his way, you’ve done well.

More than just a little dip in the rankings; more like a crater.

My son just began
law school. when I told him about SU Law, he looked up the rankings and Cuse were awful. He ended up at BC law

Isn't Florida like top 30 and Florida State top 60 ?

School rankings seem pretty dumb in general and maybe only somewhat meaningful based on the major.

You are right. They are good. I'm just salty about FL bc I want to leave but cannot.

Actually would be excited if he gets into UF. We'll find out in late Jan.

Wish I had the dough to send him out of state, but don't. His grades are not great enough & he isn't some stud athlete, so no scholarships. Pretty good HS lax player, just not great.

FL bright futures is a good program & he qualified for the full amount. Full tuition. Not room & board.
