the mighty acc..

Unbeatable? No. Undefeated? Yes, I posted a stat that the ESPN commentator mentioned during one of our games (something like 54 missed free throws in 2 home losses by a combined 6 or 9 points or something). No one is unbeatable. No "excuse" for today...if you play like crap, you don't deserve to win.

And yet, Syracuse played like cold dog crap yesterday and won by 5.

They're a lot more talented team than Miami, SU will be in for a battle at the Dome. North Carolina lost their best player, they are still very talented. If you take CJ Fair off SU, they wouldn't be #2.

The was your motive for every other loss , thought you might stick with it.

I guess me and the guys down at ESPN just think alike. Of course, ESPN is run by a UNC grad, so I'm sure there is a secret bias in there somewhere.

As i said. You keep thinking that.

I will, because I have seen it. But I'll be classy enough not to come on here and say "I told you so." I just hope your What loss isn't to NC State, because they don't deserve to win anything, ever.

No one is immune to the What loss in the ACC. You will get yours soon enough. It happens to the best of the best.

We could have four in a row to tie you guys....but prob not...

Is it not odd a UNC fan is spending his evening on the cuse board after a loss telling us about a future What loss? All are welcome but just seems a bit odd.

I explained earlier that I pull for 'Cuse as well...grew up in upstate NY and went to more Syracuse games than I can remember. Did my undergrad at UNC and live down here now so they are my primary team, but I still consider myself a Syracuse fan as well. I usually just lurk on the Syracuse threads because you all know this current SU team better than I do.

You know since the 2008-2009 season home game versus Cleveland State buzzer beat from half court. I can thing of 1 What loss Syracuse has had since then (We know Syracuse basketball has owned it in Non-Conference) I believe the only loss Neutral Site (MSG during 2012-2013 vs Temple) and in conference play 1 2010-2011 season home game versus Seton Hall (98-70) i still can't figure that game out.

Main point What What losses ?

Other than Seton Hall there was none. Although in that same 2011 year we had to scramble to beat Rutgers in OT at the dome.

However, we have had two really painful What periods the last 4 years where we seemed incapable of beating a good team over an extended period.

The 2011 period where we went 2-6 (which included that loss to the Pirates). Although in the middle of that we somehow won at UConn. That 2011 team was odd --- it started 18-0, went 2-6, than went on a 6 -0 streak to end the regular season. That 6-0 streak included wins vs #11. #15. and #17. I would say the 2011 season was What.

Then there was that 5-7 period last year, coming off an 18-1 start and right off the heels of a huge road win at Louisville.

Ahh gotchya I missed whenever you shared that info.

No problem. You'd think that I'd be torn now that we are in the same conference, but actually I think Syracuse being in the ACC is a great thing because I'll get to enjoy watching you all whoop on Duke and State year after year...even if it does mean that you'll probably whoop on us on occasion too. Seems like a fair bargain.

I laugh at how quickly you show up when UNC is mentioned in a threat here bo...

But I do admire him for coming to their defence after losing to Wake. Most fans would hide in shame, and not try to defend the team after a loss like that. I don't see any UConn fans around since they loss to Houston and SMU.

You are brand new to this league. You'll see.

What losses happen in EVERY league. It isn't just the ACC. It is a fact of college basketball. This kind of thinking is why the world hates you and Duke. Like somehow your league is so much different than wherever else.

The only conference team that we are ashamed to lose to is in Raleigh, but thankfully that only happens about once in a decade or so. No shame in losing to Wake. It happens. Thankfully, there aren't a whole lot of Wake fans in the world so the smack talk on Monday morning shouldn't be too terrible.

The ACC is different than anywhere else. Does different mean better? Absolutely not. The ACC has been too top-heavy over the last 25 years...the bottom of the league hasn't pulled any weight, and as a result our conference tourney has a hard time competing with say, the BET during its heyday. But there are little intricacies in this league that you will find and will learn to love and to despise.

Thanks for proving my point. Please explain the difference. As of now the What loss in the ACC is the only thing you have discussed. That happens everywhere. What else is different? Please enlighten me. Is the basket 11 feet? Is the courts smaller? Do the coeds give more head?

The one thing already bugging me about the acc is that we become one of a few meal tickets for the bottom half to hope for to make the tourney. Knew it was coming but the non conf ineptness seems to set that up year in year out in the acc as we watched as outsiders in previous yrs.

It would be better for me not to explain. Just do an experiment for me: go through the next of the season pretending that Syracuse is still in the Big East, and then take note of everything you see that is different from the past 20 years or so.

This last part, I would like to explore more thoroughly.

The difference is go back and look at what Va Tech's and Miami's records were in the BE then look at their records in the ACC ... Va Tech won 17 BE games in 4-5 seasons total ... they won 8 their first year in the ACC ... and 22 after 3 seasons ... and in 06-07 finished 3rd in the ACC .. they were never in the top half of the BE ... ever ... you want to talk about not pulling weight ... go look at what Va Tech was to the BE or Rutgers ... the difference is the BE had more teams that could hang with anyone ... if Duke and UNC left the ACC would have been an after thought.
