the mighty acc..

It would be better for me not to explain. Just do an experiment for me: go through the next of the season pretending that Syracuse is still in the Big East, and then take note of everything you see that is different from the past 20 years or so.

You mean other than the lack of multiple top 10 teams on the schedule?

The difference is go back and look at what Va Tech's and Miami's records were in the BE then look at their records in the ACC ... Va Tech won 17 BE games in 4-5 seasons total ... they won 8 their first year in the ACC ... and 22 after 3 seasons ... and in 06-07 finished 3rd in the ACC .. they were never in the top half of the BE ... ever ... you want to talk about not pulling weight ... go look at what Va Tech was to the BE or Rutgers ... the difference is the BE had more teams that could hang with anyone ... if Duke and UNC left the ACC would have been an after thought.

I agree. The ACC, until this year, has been UNC and Duke. The rest of the league has been forgettable. Obviously, that is changing with the introduction of the new basketball powers, and I think this is a good thing.

No problem. You'd think that I'd be torn now that we are in the same conference, but actually I think Syracuse being in the ACC is a great thing because I'll get to enjoy watching you all whoop on Duke and State year after year...even if it does mean that you'll probably whoop on us on occasion too. Seems like a fair bargain.
I like this UNC fan. It is good having his perspective here. Please don't drive him away.

Villanova will probably crack the top 10 this week ... fun factoid ... if Nova does move into the top 10 chances are there will be a total of 6 losses between those 10 teams ... Cuse is responsible for two of them.

UNC outrebounded them 53-34, outshot them 48% to 39%, each team made 2 3's. But Wake went to the line 33 times and UNC only went 11 times. Wow.

Somewhat off-topic...I'm looking forward to seeing which random (old school) ACC school Syracuse fans will come to hate. I'm not talking about a power school that challenges Syracuse on the court every year...I'm talking about a random school that Syracuse fans never cared about until "X" happened. Sort of like a Duke/Maryland kind of deal. I think that school for you all might be NC State (they have been piling on the "yankee" hate recently), but who knows...could be Clemson, or maybe even Virginia. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

NC State for sure.

More likely to be Clemson. Too many upstate New York fans live in the Raleigh area, and Clemson's football team puts us to shame (currently...)

I say nc st as well. For me its va tech too since I work in dc with tons of their grads.

Since pitt is already here and the ville comes soon the whole hated opponent category will be pretty full.

Agreed seems like a good natured and civil discussion here.

First of all this is a message board ... the hell with civility :) Second of all how do we know he isn't a Roy Williams plant to dig up dirt on our 2-3 zone .. come on guys this smells fishy to me.

Roy Williams has nightmares about that zone...the last thing he would do would be pay someone to remind him of it.

Yeah its important he know that 30 footers early in the shot clock and no look passes to the low post will beat the zone every time. :)

That only works for MSU and Mo Pete ... ugh that game still haunts me.

He's been here a while cto. He isn't going anywhere. He will root for Syracuse come late march and april.

If he is a plant---I advise him to successfully jack up as many threes as possible in the first half, go on a 5-10 minute run against the zone, then become complacent and commit several turnovers, ending with an 8 to 15 point loss.

Ugggh... we had that game. Up big in the first half then the 52 -20 or whatever 2nd half meltdown

It seemed like Peterson was chucking from the parking lot and hitting ... it drove me batty ... Etan deserved better.

He did deserve better. Etan is still one of my all time faves. Just so clinical as a shot blocker. mo pete was a hell of a shooter though. If that game was not in mich states backyard ...

No one is immune to the What loss in the ACC. You will get yours soon enough. It happens to the best of the best.
Why do you make it sound as if we stepped up in conference with the ACC move? The Big East was as deep as it gets, and we had plenty of "What losses" there. This year, the ACC is shaping up to be the easiest league schedule Syracuse has seen in a very long time.
