As a long time STH, there were many times over the years when the Dome was crazy and so loud you literally could not hear the person sitting next to you if you wnated to say something. The Clemson win was the last time it came close to what it used to be. The McNabb years, the TE throw back to beat VT, Owen's conversion, the Auburn game following 9/11 was something I'll never forget in the Dome. We need to get that feeling back in there. It's awesome.I'm one of those SU fans that hates the traditions, at least as far as pre-planned choreographed pseudo performance art goes. That stuff might look good on TV, but it's not any fun to participate in. Sports are live and spontaneous, the cheering should be too. The few traditions SU has (standing and clapping at the start of basketball games etc) I mostly don't like and would prefer to get rid of.
All I want are the people who come to feel more free to cheer the way they want. Have a family/sit down section (could be a large hunk of the Dome.of that is what's needed) where people are expected to have manners. The rest of the Dome, if you want to stand and yell all game, go for it. If you want to bring a big drum and beat on it ... go for it so long as you buy the drum a seat. Make sure there are places where fans feel welcome to get a little crazy.
The potential is there even without the choreographed celebrations (does the Wave count?). We need to WIN. A functional PA system should help...
