(with who else- Jeremy Lin, on the cover)...Has a great article on SU and Jim Boeheim. It stresses the number of options this team has, the physical improvement of Fab Melo and attitude improvement of Dion Waiters, the fact that Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph are happy after a win no matter what their personal numbers are, etc. It summarizes the Bernie Fine case but discusses it only insofar as it's impact on the team, or lack of it. (JB told the team it's his problem and he will handle it).
That's the basic stuff but there are some interesting tidbits. They quote the titles of books written by successful coaches aobut leaderhsip and how they modled their teams. JB isn't writing such a book. He jsut sees himself as a basketball coach and treats his players like basketball players. JB doesn't even particiapte in the starts of practices, which are about his asssitants teaching skills. When they get around to the scrimmages, he gets involved. By the time of the game, he totally takes over. He doesn't consult his assistants on strategy and he does all the tlaking during time outs. "I really believe we're not there. We have a big upside. We need these hard games. We may lose a game or two but I think at the end we may come out a better team."
it also says that Scoop and Dion are not cousins, despite what you read, although they like to be referred to as cousins. "They have just been tight since they were kids in Philadelphia." Actually I thought Scoop was Dion's uncle. :noidea:
