Thompson injured

Dating back to last season, the injury situation has been just silly. Now we have probably our two best lineman on the shelf? This is just getting ridiculous.

Unless they have suffered minor injuries and are being shelved to protect them? The kobe beef approach.

Sure it's not Estime?

He's always good for an ankle sprain.

A very good reason why it's always smart to start the season with an exhibition like game. If he's even remotely dinged up, keep him out till WF. I thought i read somewhere that the players felt tired going into Nova last year.

My Rant:
Injuries in the preseason are a regular occurrence not only at SU, but at all major universities. But do you know what sets us apart? A TOTAL LACK OF DEPTH!

And that is the shame of it all. We are in Year 3 of the HCSS experiment. DM left him with a full roster and a modestly strong recruiting base. But for all his talk about "recruiting the midwest", we are still looking at a lack of talent. Where are the players Scott? Where are the recruits?

As more time passes, I become less and less impressed with HCSS.

No. The players completely underestimated Nova. And all the evidence kept saying Nova was no slouch

If we were a good team freakin' Villanova should have been a slouch.

I'll say it again... I don't know who the poster was and exactly when he made the thread, roughly 2 - 3 months ago. He was concerned about the depth at DL and he was blasted for it. He deserves an apology. It was a real and legit concern.

Blah. Jake Pickard, Amir Ealey, and Qaadir Sheppard. All guys other quality programs wanted. Kayton Samuels, Chris Slayton, and a true freshman coming in physically ready to play.

Ok, ok, ok. So maybe he didn't get blasted as much as I thought and probably doesn't deserve an apology but it was a good thread that identified a potential problem.

I'm gonna take this from a slightly different angle. 2 defensive lineman down? Maybe the offensive line is starting to put up a fight?

Marrone left Shafer with:

Micah Robinson (Jr)
Robert Welsh (Jr)
Donnie Simmons (So)
John Raymon (So)
Ron Thompson (RF)
Josh Manley (RF)
Jay Bromley (Sr)
Ryan Sloan (So)
Tyler Marona (So)
Zeke Johnson (Fr)

Bromley, Robinson, Welsh graduated.

Marona retired due to concussions

Manley, Sloan, and Johnson aren't here anymore.

Trevon Trejo, Wayne Williams, and Jalen Harvey have come and gone.

We still have Simmons, plus Slayton, Samuels, Giudice, Cross, Clark, Ealey, Sheppard, Pickard, and Carter up front. And eventually Raymon and Thompson.

We're young and inexperienced. After Game 1, they won't be inexperienced anymore.

It's one thing if a guy just doesnt produce but I don't see how any coach could absorb the losses he has.

Zeke Johnson and Marcus Coleman had career ending injuries

Harvey transfered after one semester

Williams was booted

Sloan quit

Every one of the above (5 defensive tackles) should be on the team right now.

So you're a "our line is half healthy" kind of guy? I'm a "our line is half injured" kind of guy.
I kid...I don't want to be pessimistic, but we haven't even kicked off, and our key guys are getting dinged up. Hopefully, he is held out more as a precaution. Hell, let him sit against Rhode Island if need be.

DL is the one place where we can't afford to have injuries. Hate seeing two principals injured at the beginning of camp on that unit.

He'll be good for week 1... RJR's can get by, I'm sure he'll be ready to go. 100% healthy is better, but, is what it is.

SS has out recruited Marrone by any fair measure. Marrone won (what winning he did) with G-Rob's skill players.
