Thoughts for playing time after two games

JM has an outside shot. Showed it at the end of last yr.t

JJ has no outside shot. He had a shoulder injury. He was only 65% from the line last yr. I'd expect that from a 5, not a 2.

We will not have a winning season without having 3 or more shooters on the court. Without a 3 pt. shot, JJ is likely to be outscored by the opposing 2. His drives will force the D to collapse.

It was said that we will have more dunks than 3's. Yikes. Unlike last year, center will not be high in point production.

A bigger and stronger Brown will be a beast. He is our only big that I would trust to have better stats than his defender.

I had hoped that Cope would be less twitchy. Maybe next year?

That leaves Cuffe. He might be the difference maker?

At best, JT and Bell would hold their own sometimes, but not often enough.

It is imperative that Benny has a big year.
Will you actually watch tomorrow?

Benny is what he is. If your season rests on Benny, don't bother watching. Also how many teams have 3 or more shooters on the court, besides Villanova?
Our worst season in at least 50 years we had Swider, Boeheim and Girard on the floor together. Having three good shooters doesn't make your team good.

Need the whole package. In recent times teams are more dependent on shooting. Bigs have gotten bigger.

No. Listen to the radio. To the best of my knowledge there are not separate box scores for TV and radio.

Your H0t Takes were some of the craziest I’ve read, mainly about Bell.

People have opinions man, some weird, some nonsensical, and some H0t.
You’re mixing me up with someone else. I don’t think I’ve said much about Bell recently. I think he’ll be one of our best shooters this season but the jury is still out if he can contribute in all facets of the game, especially rebounding and defense.

I'll take it a step further. I'm not sure he's actually all that valuable as a shooter. He'll eventually average out to make more shots than he's making at the moment. BUT, he has poor shot selection, he can't move and shoot. In other words, he's not a guy who comes off a screen and fires. He just shoots from a standstill and, really, you can get that shot with 3 seconds left on the shot clock if you're just going to shoot over someone.

I'm not hammering the kid -- think he's trying to contribute in other areas. Had a couple nice driving buckets tonight and a steal and bucket in the first game. It's all good. But if he's going to continue to get big minutes he's got to show more. Two rebounds just doesn't work if you're a team that's struggling to clear the glass. If I were the coach, we would probably be awful, but Bell would be a 12-15 mpg guy at most. I just don't see it.

I wonder why bell stayed and what red told him or promised him. Seems like he’d be happier at a smaller program.

If Bell was a junior, I’d say we’d have seen most his growth. But 3 games into sophomore season is too early to arrive at that conclusion for me. He is still doing some new things as evidenced by that put back last game. And from what we’ve heard he is working hard.

He was wildly inconsistent with his play last season. I hope he’s matured and he’s learned from last season but would it be that shocking if he wasn’t?
That’s just dumb! Judah was second to Filipowski in ACC POY, earned all freshman, lead conference in steals, was 8th in scoring and 5th in assists. He on the Bob Cousy and Naismith Award watch and has been listed in the top 5 point guards in the nation. He lead all freshmen in scoring. And was second in the nation in that category in his class. He’ll be a first round pick in 2024.

8th in ACC scoring and 5th in ACC assists is not first round.

I think the assumption is that this year he'll build on last year's numbers which were already good.

I am honestly not sure if I am reading this right... but...

Dion Waiters was 6th man and was not in top 10 of scoring, rebounding, or assists and went 4th overall. Marvin Williams was 6th man and went 2nd overall.

Buddy Boeheim led the ACC in scoring and didnt get drafted.

I hope every SU player ends up a lottery pick, but if you’re playing the point for a team I root for then there is more than the Bob Cousy, Naismith awards and draft projection.

Don't want to knock on Judah. Just saying that he is not there yet. He has work to do for first round consideration.
It’s not knocking him at all imo, he’s a great player, nobody is saying he isn’t. I’m glad he’s here, I’m glad he’s playing and I’ll be upset when he leaves. That said, he's got a lot of work to do.

Really impressive win.

Sure there were lapses late, but NC State is far more experienced. They have six graduate students, we are all sophomores. Lead stayed above eight.
