You may have seen when the AP poll came out Sunday that there are no ranked teams from Florida for the first time since Dec. 6, 1982. Just to put that into perspective, that poll came out nine days before Alabama coach Bear Bryant announced his retirement. Former Florida coach Urban Meyer, who has already retired, was an 18-year-old shortstop in the Atlanta Braves’ minor-league system. And since that poll, Florida schools have won 10 national championships, a total which won’t increase in 2011.

legitimate question here----what does navy really have to gain by joining the big east, particularly if they do not have a aq status?

Really like Wake's QB..took Wake last week on the ticket and was rewarded and going with them again this week getting 8pts vs. Va Tech..This team is better than people think..It was a great win for SU..

Agree, when I posted his junior highlight reel from high school he looked like a real comer. He broke all of Wake's freshmen QB records and with that year of experience he gained a lot of poise. Any successful QB out of Texas concerns me when we play them. He came out of the same school as Drew Brees, Westlake. I'm real glad that his injury against us wasn't season ending. The ironic thing is, Chandler Jones, who was involved in the play and didn't appear injured nearly lost the season, it is presumed, on that play.

The SU coaching staff was very concerned about Wake in the preseason and with good cause.

Luckily he will be graduated when we have to play him again, that's assuming it gets scheduled.

Access to more bowls, access to conference revenue sharing money, more television appearences due to the BE football network, more attractive football schedule (maybe depending on how things play out). It is hard for a football independent...there are many disadvantages if your name is not Notre Dame.
