The darkhorse that has been flying under the radar in this job hunt is current Syracuse head man Doug Marrone. Oxford's favorite son, Archie Manning, is spearheading the search. Marrone spent a year as an assistant at son Peyton's alma mater, Tennessee. Marrone's wife is from nearby Tennessee and her dad is the legendary Boots Donnelly, a Hall of Fame football coach at Middle Tennessee. Plus, Marrone was the offensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints, the team Archie led through the 1970's, before heading to upper New York state.

"Hey, Doug Marrone, how concerned are you that Syracuse being based in a more southern conference will affect your Northeast recruiting region?''
Quote From: Move to Big 12 unlikely to affect WVU's recruiting plan

In terms of looking at what Spaziani makes in a grand scale it's also interesting to note that he is near the bottom of all coaches in AQ conferences. The only other AQ coaches that make less than Spaz are Doug Marrone of Syracuse, Jon Embree of Colorado and Joe Paterno of Penn State (before he was fired). Kind of stunning to see that Nick Saban is making $4.9 mil a year, and Mack Brown is taking in $5.1 million.

DeMarco Murray is on fire » The rookie running back replaced injured Felix Jones, and it could be a while before the ex-starter gets his job back. Jones is now healthy, but the speedy Murray is on a roll, and the Cowboys would be wise to keep giving him the ball. In the last four games (three wins), he has rushed for 601 yards, including a 253-yard day vs. St. Louis. He's averaging 8.01 yards a carry in this stretch. Fullback Tony Fiammetta is a big factor in Murray's success.

The Redskins are careful to note, however, that more than one player must be accounted for against Dallas. Fullback Tony Fiammetta has emerged as a steady blocking force in front of Murray, and the offensive line has jelled nicely since some early-season hiccups.

They promptly booed Donovan McNabb(notes) off the stage thus igniting a decade of polarization about McNabb's years in Philly. Say what you want about Donnie Five, but when compared to the guy that group (who won't be named because they don't deserve the print) wanted, you'd be institutionalized if you didn't believe the McNabb pick ended up being the smarter choice.

Marrone to Ole Miss? Interesting, maybe he is down there right now

That would be shocking

Interesting how this stuff gets out there though, weird really... I can see Ole Miss looking at Marrone as a Chizik type hire. This is where I am seeing Marrone's connections and pedigree possibly escalating his stock. Who knows?

State schools certainly like to spend tax payers money when it comes to coaches.
