Until last year they have been an under performer in the NCAA. There was a lot of heat on Jay.Has Nova been a bubble-caliber team the past 3 years?

Ok, I can agree with all of that. Just for fun, it would be cool to imagine my joke about him hitting Vegas with you!
But yes, showing his life stoary with how Cuse transformed him so greatly, it would be EPIC. Then again, I am not sure how Gerry speaks, and if he can tell how Syracuse elevated him to be an EPIC player, and some of his hoops accomplishments... I think that could have some value too.
Eh, in no way is a Butler offer equal to a Syracuse offer. When the day comes that it legitimately is, we're in trouble.Save it. The committee dealt up enough doom and gloom today. Sidibe and Brisset are both d1 p5 talents and Washington was good enough to accept an offer then decommit from a team that would've beat us this year.
the third ass't has nothing to do with our down turn. he should NEVER have been put in a position where he had to go head to head with Cal. NEVER. That is on the coach and his top ass't who were away coaching pros instead of their school that pays their $$$I was highly skeptical of how GMac got his spot, to begin with.
There's been the recruiting stuff.
We just haven't been all that good while he's been an assistant.
I think there's some correlation there. I think him being on staff in the role he has puts us at a disadvantage.

Devendorf couldn't keep up. I have a couple of years on him, but I do remember hanging out with him a couple of times at the Country Club, always seemed cool and nothing like the negative you hear about him.
These days I don't think kids really care about what Gmac did in Orange, not one kid he speaks to that he'd actually have to sell to would understand a bunch of buses coming to the hill. More kids are like Eric than they are Gerry.
I love how people completely discount prior successes, when they want to dwell on what they deem failure.
Stuff like "after the 25-0 start" or your "after that 12-0 abberration start".
Sorry - those good things happened. You can't ignore them to suit your narrative.
Yes, our overall ACC results leave much to be desired, but then again - that's what the NCAA wanted.
We got hit with the hardest hoops sanctions pretty much ever, short of getting the death penalty.
The fact that we've remained competitive in the deepest, toughest conference is borderline amazing.
We still have not had a losing overall or conference season, in spite of those sanctions.
And threw in a Final Four run last year, to really piss the negative Nancies off.
He really wasn't the lead recruiter last summer. Autry was. They recruited different areas.Gerry coaches the guards and was the lead recruiting coach last offseason because of JB and Hop being with USA basketball in Vegas and Brazil.
That's all good, great even... but I always thought Devo was also somewhat quiet and reserved in a social setting. Maybe it was just the environment we were in because he obviously wasn't reserved on the court
When I first met Hop, you could just tell he had that gift for relating to young men. Very energized and quite funny too.
Neither GMac or Devo strike me as that guy. Not to say there is only one right way to recruit. Assistants need to be grinders and workaholics too... are they?
Eh, in no way is a Butler offer equal to a Syracuse offer. When the day comes that it legitimately is, we're in trouble.
I'd rather put out the coaches that can cover the most ground in the shortest amount of time.
JB doesn't move that fast anymore.
Well, you couldn't be more wrong. And that isn't a compliment for G-macI said it before, I think Devendorf would do better in a parents living room than GMac.
I wonder if Two3, being in vegas, can relate to being grinders vs Rounders(pretty decent movie). I'm a grinder myself in a casino, either in my state, or Vegas. Sometimes Phoenix too.
JB is like the godfather, he doesn't pick up the balogny sammiches in Paducah... he waits for the prime rib.
Like a third date kind of guy!
True. But since 2014, their seeds have been 2, 1, 2, 1. I'd trade those & their title for our seeds, tourney performances, & Final 4 run.Until last year they have been an under performer in the NCAA. There was a lot of heat on Jay.

it's not really an opinion about the parents living room part. that is what I objected to.I think it's more of an opinion than either of us can say with a fact since Eric hasn't ever recruited anybody.
where should blame always be laid?I don't disagree, but I mentioned this in another, post, why was he? The blame needs to be put somewhere.

When it comes to the ladies I'm surely a rounder, no time to grind when there are so many out there. I throw offers out like UConn and hope to get lucky.

very fair point. And I talk a lot about how bad the sanctions have hurt us. far worse than most know. Having said that, other things have hurt us as well. With the sanctions, we couldn't afford to have our two best recruiters out of the country working for someone else last summer. We just couldn't. And we have paid for it. the only reason that we were competitive this year was that we hit the lottery with the 5th year guys. Without them, we would have been like Boston college.I love how people completely discount prior successes, when they want to dwell on what they deem failure.
