Time to unveil Ennis' nickname now that we're in ACC play

First, I applaud your use of the word "whilst" in your post. It was a most enjoyable read. The merits of Voodoo is that the crowd could chant "Voooooo dooooooo!" However, since we already have Cooooney, it may be redundant.

What I was struck with is that there are so many great nick names for our multi-talented guard, all clever and spot on. PeteCalvin had a good idea. What do his teammates call him? Otto, I would suggest a mission for you (if you choose to accept it). Use your six degrees of separation to find a player or two who would be willing to divulge their private nickname for Tyler, and then fans can co-opt it. Unless it would make Ennis mad. We certainly don't want to see a Tyler Terrifically Terrible Tantrum!

Otto, I always wondered about the mysterious process of conjuring up nicknames so this post was very enlightening, if frightening. After sharing the source of my laughter with Mrs Crusty, she says she is worried about you.

I myself, have never felt that pee trough brotherhood. Go figure.

Don't cross the streams!

I was afraid that whilst at the pee trough a different idea for a nickname was going to come up: mispronouncing Tylers last name so that it rhymes to the anatomy being used there followed by the word "Envy".

voodoo? really?

how about something that actually relates to both his menace and his Canadian roots . . . like Wendigo or Loup-Garou

Wendigo:

or, with his cool, calm demeanor and surgical precision at dissecting defenses, combined with his facial hair: Evil Spock

or just the more elegant Evil Ennis

As many of you know I am the board Arbiter of Nicknaming (I'm arbiter of a few other things as well, but we can discuss that later). Being the Arbiter of Nicknaming is a mantle that rests heavy on the shoulders upon those to which it is self-appointed, but it is a sacrifice that I am willing to make for the good of the board.

Many excellent nicknames have been proposed for Tyler on this board, but so far, no single nickname has stuck.

The hard thing about nicknaming Tyler Ennis is that there are so many different directions you can take that make sense. Plays on words, rhymes, descriptions of his talent and abilities, even references to hamburgers all work.

But... a nickname has come to me, and I believe that it was delivered by supernatural means. Whilst peeing at a urinal my mind was taken back to halcyon days attending games at the Carrier Dome, where I had often relieved myself shoulder to shoulder with other Syracuse faithful. As we voided our bladders into stainless steel receptacles a true sense of brotherhood was established. Few things bring a group of men together like a pee trough, that if properly designed never overflows with urine, but speaking on a deeper spiritual level, overflows with fraternity.

That really doesn't have anything to do with the nickname. Anyway, the amazing thing about Ennis is that his game is so mature. He is steady, he is enormously in control, and he is nearly emotionless. It's unsettling to watch as fans of his play, and terrifying for opposing coaches, players and fans. That menace matters.

And that is why from this day forward he shall be known as "Voodoo" Ennis.

"Smooth" is the correct moniker.

i do like "the menace". but i see the little goatee and smoothness and think anfernee "penny" hardaway.
thus i proffer for your perusal tyler "toonie" ennis.

"Magic" for his magical play (like Magic Johnson)
"Silk" for his smooth, effortless play (like Jamaal Wilkes)

With Silk, add his last name initial "E" to get Silk-e (Silky).

This should have been an easy one.

A sports nickname should reflect someone's look and/or play.
In this case they converge.

He looks like a 1950's jazz player.
And plays ball with ice cold calm.

"Mr. Cool"

That would make our style of basketball "Coolball."
