Back to the pee trough Otto.
I... I'm not sure how to feel about this.Voodoo is as bad a nickname as Thick Burger was a good one.
I'm going to make a big statement, and I want you to take this as a compliment...I often feel I dont speak the same language as most people, but I don't suppose I need to. I hope most can appreciate this effort though, and it's intent, at least. I have love in my heart for everyone, and am trying to further my own understanding, I suppose.
Im not a huge fan of the voodoo name just because I think there may be other better ones... or possibly because it may be a spiritual practice TE wouldn't want to be connected with, but not because of his ethnicity. I usually agree with CTO, and I guess I do here in substance, but not in procedure.
(Picture this in some classic sports announcer voice...I'm mostly have fun with this one)
Regarding the ethnicity, didn't we just a few days ago have a 6 page PC thread where we determined he was half-African American/Haitian/Canadian, and half of whatever the father who appears to be(european heritage)? (Actually I may not have read the final verdict, it's not important to me).
You just called it, Tyler is AfroHaitianCanadian-pean. And lest anyone pull the race card, the part that relates to the trough is the "pean", and it's not possible be racist against them! I am a pee-ist though, and despise those infernal troughs!! I am tolerant though, and am not going to knock Otto's pee preferences, I am just stating my own. We can still do that, right? Anyhow, does the -pean half(?) qualify the OP's nickname any more? (being humorous here remember). Speaking of Otto's pee preferences, is there any truth to the rumor that the real Otto can't pee in a trough?
So, maybe Otto maybe DID receive this name through supernatural channels to help us at least get to these points?
On to serious matters: There is a large disagreement about Voodoo and whether or not it is Hoodoo and/or related. There are some who say that Hoodoo comes from the Scottish. I really hope Voodoo isnt the sole/soul blame for Haiti's troubles, any more than we've been brainwashed to think the majority of Muslims are evil so that we can bomb and occupy their countries as well. I wont get into Haiti's natural resources, because I haven't bothered to study a lot about Haiti at this point. If it is any more likely that Voodoo caused the earthquake than HAARP or something else only a handful of people know about, then maybe it can be blamed for more. I dont know, I just think folks should be aware of more possibilities than the first thing we are told, regardless of who it is by. Seriously though, a number of people speak well of Hoodoo, and seem to get results from it. May be worth a google?
The media makes us focus on things and creates problems where there often were none when it comes to matters of regulating speech, which also reaches into regulating thought. There has to be a point where free men draw the line. You will be pushed, as both parties in DC have shown us continually, until you show you will push back. But like in any other prison, that can have it's consequences as well.
Mantonio, this is your Batman signal. I'd love to hear your opinion on such things. I watched your show, which emphasized the free exchange of ideas. I am open to finding out if I am wrong, and I suppose the only way to do that is to talk about it, like you mentioned on your show(which I recommend to folks as he is one of our SU brethren).
I... I'm not sure how to feel about this.
I seriously do not like "voodoo" as a nickname for an African-American. To me, it conjures up negative images/stereotypes of Blacks (certain island and African cultures). Seriously, it has tones of racism to me.
Voodoo it is.
Now is not the time for alternatives. Everyone had their chance to voice their suggestions earlier, OiG said the determination was coming. The decision has been made. It is unfortunate that some think there are racist overtones but I do not believe that was the intent, and should not invalidate the decision.
Earlier people had bemoaned the lack of good nicknames. OiG is saving the day before it is too late, nice.
Voodoo and Shaky Potatoes in the back court. Unique. It is a lot to write out though, maybe for writing purposes we can shorten Voodoo to V2.
Nice job Otto...thank you.
Tyler is actually half-Jamaican. No idea where his Father is from but I know his Mother is from Jamaica and his brother Dylan, played for the National Jamaican team this past summer. A good majority of the Canadian players from recent years are from West Indian/Caribbean Island backgrounds. Kris Jo-Trinidad & Tobago, Wiggins-Barbados, Tristan Thompson and Anthony Bennett-Jamaica.I often feel I dont speak the same language as most people, but I don't suppose I need to. I hope most can appreciate this effort though, and it's intent, at least. I have love in my heart for everyone, and am trying to further my own understanding, I suppose.

Yeah, I don't think people understand what an arbiter does.Voodoo it is.

Dr. EhTyler Eh
Ugh...we're bad at nicknames... (Except for OIG cuz I know what he's doing here).
I mean we have 2 Tylers on this team...we have a guy that tees everyone up here, we need a great 80s reference. Clearly T1 and T2 should be their nicknames.

I believe that CaptainJ may just be the rising generation of posters' Cali.
It's a compliment. There's been a certain once-in-a-generation poetry to a few of your posts.Man, I have no idea how to take that. I don't claim to be as clever as some of you, but I do put effort into my work sometimes. Seriously, I have no idea if I should have my "head held high"(whether I'm sober or not), or if I should be feeling like the Glennon dude(which I still don't get). If I need to ban myself for a time let me know and I will.
