The majority of SU's possessions last night lasted about 2 minutes and resulted in a punt. Doing what you suggest would likely have resulted in the same thing.

I think you might be misremembering the game somewhat. It's not like we were dominating their defense all night. We scored one TD in the final three quarters. The coaching on that last drive was far from "bad." It was pretty much perfect.

We did the same thing last week against Pittsburgh.

You don’t go fast when your burning clock. If that is what the point is.

Simple fact Tempo teams don’t use tempo to snap the ball when they are trying to run out the clock.
 
What the team did cannot be bad clock management because it worked. Taking a knee with the lead is your goal - the perfect ending to a game - because you have rendered your opponent helpless. When you get in the victory formation, for them, all hope is lost.
