Tournament Resumes YTD / Selection Show

Being a road team this late in the process makes me nervous.

We need to win games! At least 3 important games left. Although Mark has us playing at Harvard, I think unless we are seeded and have a home game, sending us to West Point for the first round might be too enticing for the committee to pass up. To avoid it we need to be seeded.

Agreed, if Army-Duke is going to be a flight, I'm almost certain the committee would just send Syracuse to Army and fly Duke to Cambridge. Plus no rematch between Harvard and Syracuse.

Agree.

Second post is assuming SU beats Duke and loses to UNC.

This would make it more likely Syracuse would be seeded & get a home game. Also appears Army might need to win the AQ to get in and less likely to be seeded even if they do. So Army at Syracuse for first round Sunday 7:30pm game would be a possibility.

Syracuse visits Duke and Notre Dame heads to North Carolina on Saturday. Both teams can create some separation from the edge of the field with victories. …

Annapolis, Md.
(1) Maryland vs. AMERICA EAST/UMBC-NORTHEAST/Robert Morris winner
(8) BIG TEN/Ohio State vs. Notre Dame

Hempstead, N.Y.
(5) North Carolina vs. ATLANTIC 10/Richmond
(4) IVY/Cornell vs. BIG EAST/Villanova

Annapolis, Md.
(3) Penn State vs. METRO ATLANTIC/Sacred Heart
(6) Harvard vs. Duke

Hempstead, N.Y.
(7) Syracuse vs. PATRIOT/Army
(2) Princeton vs. COASTAL/Towson-ATLANTIC SUN/Utah winner

Last three included: Syracuse, Notre Dame, Duke
First three on the outside: Michigan, Johns Hopkins, Saint Joseph’s
Moving in: UMBC, Utah, Villanova
Moving out: Georgetown, Jacksonville, Vermont
Conference call: Atlantic Coast (4), Big Ten (3), Ivy (3)

Beating Duke AND UNC to cap the regular season would go a long way to the tournament draw this team needs.

Army/Princeton pod is brutal.

Hoping Cuse
1. Gets in
2. Plays in Annapolis

Regarding your second point, I couldn't help but recall the recent games that they were in the south:

2015- Lost to Hopkins @Navy (brutal loss, still think that team could have won it all)
2017- Lost to Towson @Delaware (another bad loss, I remember they got down early and were playing catch up the whole game)
2021- Lost to Georgetown @UMD (I did not go to this one and very glad I didn't because it got ugly if I remember correctly)
2024- Lost to Denver @Towson (ugly 2nd half in which they couldn't score of course)

So while I love the idea of getting to see them live, I will gladly watch them on TV playing in Hempstead if it means they're getting to Championship weekend!

Hempstead sucked. Lol

Hempstead was fantastic in 2009 still think they should bring a quarterfinal back to upstate NY. When was the last time Syracuse hosted the quarterfinal 2004? Was at Cornell in 2008

gotta at least split the last 2. then we are definitely in the conversation. where ? TBA.

IL has Syracuse hosting Ohio State as the eight seed. That's a first.

as he says, he's ignoring the 2 flight limit rule so that isn't going to happen. But at least he didn't bury Syracuse like he has often done. It may be tough for the committee if neither OSU or ND are seeded.

Yes, just noticing that all the west coast teams are unseeded, which would make flights mandatory for a lot of games. Have to imagine that the committee would finagle something so that isn't the case. Again, no idea why in 2025 they have to contain themselves to this 2 flight rule. Has to be one of the most outdated things in all of collegiate athletics.

Best thing for syracuse is to beat duke and unc which would not only lock up ncaa tounry but also a top 6 seed i truely believe. Now they win those two games n claim Acc tounry chip they prob get a top 3-4 seed n possibly avoid a terrible first round game vs a team rather not see in first round. Either way they have to play their best lacrosse right now till the whistle sounds for the very last game of the year(hopfully ncaa chip) . Teams are jockeying for playoffs n seeds n everything else. So they’re all gonna be somewhat desperate to point or ready to go , so we have to be also.

Need to play a full 60min game being smart fast hustling n composed. This week is second week cuse can lock up playoff spot as last week def would have but they faltered. Now beat duke lock up spot , go into unc game to lock up a seed n home game. Offense needs to possess ball for good portions of shot clock n finish it with a goal. Mullen has to be 60% or better to keep feeding us the ball. McCool after poor showing at cornell (defense also) has to be least 50% if not better. McCool has to be close to 60% from here on out n be a brick wall. Defense needs to talk call slides(only when need to tho) n 2nd slides n when go go hard n fast. Don’t hesitate or go halfway. Play the body not swinging for sticks. Be aggressive but smart. Lay legal hits away from head area.

Clearing needs to get back to 90% or better also. Gotta win the gb game. Offense has to get to middle of field with plenty of net too shoot at. Also shooting percent had to be least 35% or better. Everyone n mean Everyone who gets time on that field has to do their part make plays. Captains need to take control calm guys down or hype guys up when calls for it. All our guys with high lax IQ gotta be there n at high level. Let’s go boys finish the season out strong starting with duke. Owe it to yourself (the players) owe it to your coaches and owe it to your fans. Let’s make this happen.
