Tournament Resumes YTD / Selection Show

Think cuse just playing better and competing vs ND should be more the thought then dragging ur lucky butt into the tounry. Cuse needs to play like its win or go home. Playing better has to be number one thought.

Also would towson winning out help cuse at all? Not sure how much of bump or rpi towson would get if won out. But as said if rather cuse make tounry cause they beat ND instead of limping in on 4 game losing streak. Hopefully they prove they belong toma night. But guess we will see what team decides to show up.

I don't think it would give SU any sort of huge bump but it wouldn't hurt either. Ditto jax winning the Asun

Mean last time i saw towson was like 21 or 23 in RPI. Was just thinking if winning out could get them into top 20 Rpi giving us another top 20 rpi win. Not that makes our resume any better or much. Really comes down to cuse winning vs ND. As that’s really their only legit win. Which don’t understand how you beat ND like they did to then just flop n flop hard vs duke, unc even cornell but think cornell is clearly better then duke and unc.

But as stated im just more focus on cuse making it an actual game. Not trying to play catch up n getting it what some call close. But actually making it a game where they’re truely in it or teetered on verge of winning it. Tho i truely feel ND is gonna come out pissed off n want revenge for first meeting. Not sure our record is playing teams twice in single season. Just know lately (last few years) it hasn’t gone down great in 2nd meeting if we won the first. This game setting up to be like duke last year. Where handled them pretty well first time but second time just got owned.

How i would love absolutely love for me to put my foot in my mouth and cuse win even win big. I would gladly take that “i’m total fool and wrong “ moment. But try to be honest just don’t feel it’s gonna be the case.

After games that are completed as of right now (6:45 EDT), Syracuse has flip-flopped with Harvard in the RPI, climbing to 10. I assume this is mostly due to the Towson win.

SU now has a SOS rank of 7. Vs. the top 5, we are 0-3 (MD, Cornell, UNC), 1-1 vs. 6-10 (ND, Duke), and 2-1 vs. 11-20 (UVa and Hop W's, #11 Harvard L).

Beating ND again would give us another 6-10 win, and winning on Sunday would be a top 10 win, depending on who we play. Whoever we play would probably be another 6-10 win - not sure Duke beating UNC would be enough to raise the Devils from 8 to 5 (or higher), and beating UNC would probably drop them from 5 (although beating Duke might keep them at 4 or 5).

Losing to ND, besides not being good for our chances, would probably give them a boost from 6, but that would leave us at 0-4 vs. the top 5. Obviously, many many variables.

I assume your right in Towson. Jax and Towson winning their conferences would probably keep SU at 10 I would think. Probably not a bad idea to have Princeton beat Harvard as well

Agreed. Harvard at anywhere between 11-15 is still a 11-20 loss. Looks the same on paper.

But damn, we'd be looking a lot better is we hadn't blown that game. 3-0 vs. 11-20 looks a lot better than 2-1.

Great job. Thanks for doing this. In your last paragraph, if you're counting ND as top 5 wouldn't we be 1-4? ND winning tomorrow doesn't negate our prior win over them. Sorry if I'm being too nitpicky.

Right now, ND is 6. I'm not sure just a win over us would move them to 5 (who is UNC) without UNC losing to Duke.

Too many moving parts. :)

Ah, I see your point now. Yes, it wold leave us 1-4, if ND climbs to 5.

I was told there wouldn't be math. ;)

Syracuse sure could use its first victory in any round of the ACC tournament since 2016. Granted, no ACC tournaments were played from 2020-23, but beating Notre Dame a second time would make the Orange less vulnerable to bid snatchers squeezing the field and would keep it in play to host a first-round game. …

Annapolis, Md.
(1) Maryland vs. NORTHEAST/Robert Morris-ATLANTIC SUN/Utah winner
(8) Duke vs. PATRIOT/Army

(5) North Carolina vs. ATLANTIC 10/Richmond

Hempstead, N.Y.

(6) Penn State vs. Syracuse

Hempstead, N.Y.
(7) BIG TEN/Ohio State vs. Harvard
(2) IVY/Cornell vs. METRO ATLANTIC/Sacred Heart-AMERICA EAST/Bryant winner

Last three included: Duke, Harvard, Syracuse
First two on the outside: Michigan, Boston U

Conference call: ACC (4), Big Ten (3), Ivy (3)

If SU wins today I think there in no matter what happens. Two top 10 wins over ND and the RPI will go up even more. Your right though they really really really need a win here.

I do not trust Army one bit to win the Patriot League Tournament. For as good as they are it’s the same story every year. With their win over UNC I also think the committee will use that as reason 1A to put them in the tournament over Syracuse.

Syracuse needs to win for a variety of reasons, but really need to wash away these bad vibes!

I agree on Army, there annual late April choke job has cost them I don't know how many bids at this point. I tend to think that this year maybe an outlier especially if Lafayette beats BU today but I agree very hard to trust Army, hell them losing to Gate today wouldn't shock me. I do think Duke winning today would also help SU, keeps that one Army win from looking better.
