Tracking Syracuse vs Other Teams: Mar 1 - Mar 7

Check out these numbers on NC State
Net 31
RPI 117
SOS 147
NC SOS 352

If this was last year and RPI still in play, they would not even be on the bubble. How in the world can there be an 86 spot difference between RPI and Net? It's obvious the Net can be gamed. JB needs to master it going forward
NET rewards efficiency while RPI is more interested in who you play and whether or not you win, and whether you win by 5 or 50 makes no difference.

NC State played the #353 non conference schedule (dead last in the entire country) and beat up on bad teams. That accounts for most of the discrepancy.

Jeez. Net needs to weight efficiency based on the quality of the opponent or it is useless then

It could help... but it would us less then a win would help them. I'll take the UNC win if they can pull it out.
Yeah they need to fix it for next year. Better than the RPI but still not great.

Seems like we wont get any favours from our old friend UConn.

Last out Temple up 68-64 at UConn with 2 minutes to go. (it would be a Q2 road win)

He never said it didn't.

NET considers the quality of the opponent... and much better than the RPI.
obviously there is not much weight applied to quality of opponent if a team with a 350 plus NC SOS and 10 losses is #31. Seems to me they are getting credit for pounding a bunch of duds in the pre conference.

Looks like the American will have 4 teams in (excluding a bid stealer) after Temple and UCF grabbed wins yesterday. UCF could pass SU on the matrix. They are actually ranked, too.

highly doubt Temple gets in as at-large unless they beat ucf this wknd, or one of the top3 in the aac tourney
