Trebor Pena transferring to PSU

He did get paid, SU gave him a significant NIL bump.
Already or was scheduled too? I have no idea how these contracts play out but I hope whatever money that was going to be spent on him is being retained.

Sucks but people need to realize this is the new normal for now until Congress eventually intervenes. When Tenn is losing their starting QB it's going to happen to everyone. Gotta roll with it and try to overcome. SU will have a chance to counter, unlikely they can match but may get into the neighborhood to at least make it a tough call.

Scheduled to as far as I know.

Mind blowing. Whatever we might snag a random transfer and make up for it. It’s obviously a massive bag. Is what it is, next

we did pay him. someone else came along and offered more after he agreed to stay. we can't be held hostage by ever SEC/Big Ten program that tries to poach our guys. He knew what the deal was here.
I get not being held hostage.

But we also know that in business people get offers all the time and companies choose to match them to retain key talent.

If they doubled our deal and we’re tapped out then I understand. But I don’t want to see us standing on principle over reasonable increases that we can match.

Watch him end up at a bottom feeding SEC school like Arkansas or Miss St, who’s about to fire their head coach. It’s all about the money now in college sports
I doubt he ends up in a place like that no matter the money. He would kill his draft stock.

Someone said Oregon. Former WR coach and passing coordinator and a big bank. Pena probably had a good relationship there as well. We paid higher from what you said, can't overpay if a school goes huge.

it's highly unlikely he's a pro so he needs to get paid now.

I was actually worried about how to play all these young talented WRs. It's a loss but there's more quality depth here than anywhere and that Florida kid is going to tear it up in the slot.

Wonder if they will refer to him next year wherever he lands as the Syracuse transfer. Not sure if that would be good or bad.

I know this is a painful loss but assuming he was getting 1 million in NIL we could re-distribute that money for a linebacker and cornerback now. For slot receivers we have Russell, Boopie and the kid from Buffalo Jameer Thomas. It also gives more opportunity for Samuel

He ain’t gone yet.
I will say… could be a “all options open” and allows for negotiations. Maybe Fran can point to him and nice more NIL from donors/companies. Idk just wishful thoughts. It’ll be tough because he will have some dominant programs on him immediately.
