Trishton Jackson declares for the NFL Draft

I wish him the best of luck, but don't see it. Agree w/ poster above that AET and Ish were much more impressive and they haven't had much of a sniff to this point.

2nd team All-ACC is like maybe top 20-25 of all WRs. Does that get him drafted? Maybe, but his measurables are not off the charts. He probably would have raised his stock next year, if we fielded a competent offensive line, and he and DeVito could get on the same page more often.

Some young SU WRs are going to get a GREAT opportunity for playing time. Good luck to them. May the best players play.

May "the best (remaining) players" be good enough to be able to get open against ACC cornerbacks.

Sometimes I wonder if this doesn't work the opposite though. In a year loaded with WRs do you see a bunch taken off the board early too? In that case the run on WRs can work to the advantage vs the opposite for TJ. In a weaker year teams are also looking elsewhere for draft needs and basically looking to free agency to pluck from the weaker positions.

Michigan has 3 NFL prospects (one senior and 2 early entrants) aside from the kid who is looking to transfer. Then just consider SEC schools and schools like Ohio State. We've had better receivers not get a sniff. But this clearly hurts the returning talent level. How many 4 stars to do we even have on the roster?

Early? No. You're going to see a lot of good WRs go second and third day. If you're projected as a late round draft pick, you might get undrafted as a whole because teams can pick and choose when they want a WR.

Exactly. Finding a WR is like finding an outside LB or S (or a small forward in hoops).

There are the elite players, and then there's a million kids who are pretty good and could play for you, but maybe not become "stars".

Serviceable players are plentiful for those positions. He's most likely an Undrafted FA. Best of luck to him finding the right fit, but he dropped a lot of balls last year. He's not blazingly fast, and he's not a target man in the red zone. I just don't see it.

Taj Harris is not better than Trishton and the post is harsh. Who knows what's going on in his life right now? This came out of nowhere and no one expected this. I hope he's getting the right advice.

Well, it kind of doesn't matter now, does it?

Honest question, do we know anything about Russel Thompson Bishop’s development?

It seems like we have a bunch of players at WR and LB who have been hailed as exciting prospects who have failed to see the field these past 2 or 3 years under Dino. Young guys are playing in the secondary, but not WR or LB, where you would think more players, not fewer, would be rotated through.

About 7. And Miami, a school with 30+, just got shut out

Yeah, and many will continue to use the Next Man Up line.

Is there another line to use?

There are some AETs out there, if we can land them and if they can have that quick an impact.

But otherwise, we just need the OL to play more like the last 3 games and less like the first 9 (which I think they will). With a normal OL, the QB will look better, the WRs will look better, the RBs will look better, the offense will look better. Without it, well, we just saw what that looks like.

Yup. I’m not counting on a good OL. Maybe a little better, but good OL are hard to come by. Hoping for the best.

Dropped at least 5 touchdowns this season. That doesn’t fly in the nfl. Good luck

His hands turned to stone in big situations. He better kick that trend quick to have a snow balls chance in hell of making an NFL squad in any capacity.

Immediately was sad cause of what he Brings to the team but very happy for the guy and him coming here allowed him too fufill his dream here! I mean you can’t blame the kid and yes I think he is definitely good enough to be drafted. I’m kind of just taking a guess because I don’t know the competition of receivers going into the draft this year but I’d say he could be a 4th round pick.
I wonder what Happens with him n tiana. Wish him nothing but the best

I think as fans too often we get caught up in the trap of thinking a kid from one year isn’t capable of making a huge leap forward the next year. Just because a freshman 18 year old doesn’t contribute, doesn’t mean he won’t be a player the next year. Freshman are dealing with a lot of issues football related and non. Kids mature at different paces.

We have a lot of talent. Now we get to watch and see who can step up. That’s the fun of college football. Pros just roll out their players, and go get new ones if these ones don’t work out. That’s not what CFB is all about.

It seems that some people on here are reading honestly blunt assessments of TJ as hating. I don't see that at all. I see it as good comparison between him and other recent recievers that were better. I also don't understand the opinions that he didn't have a chance to raise his draft stock. AET probably wasn't getting a sniff until he came here for a year and showed he had better hands that what he had at Maryland. Even though he didn't get drafted, I bet he was a lot closer than he would have been. TJ definitely could've helped himself by coming back and improving on his weaknesses, especially his hands. Does that guarantee he gets drafted next year? No. But it's probably a guarantee he doesn't get drafted this year. He best case is practice squad, but, given what we've seen from some of our other recent guys, that seems like a stretch too.

It's great to chase dreams, but you also have to have a realistic view of your aptitude.

Best of luck to Jackson. Cant blame the guy for living out his dream. We have no idea if next year would have made it any better for him. The hard part as a Cuse fan is if he does not get drafted, we are consistently losing WRs to the draft that do not get drafted. This hurts recruiting. Coaches will find guys that can play but we need to start getting players drafted.

My issue isn’t that he is leaving, I wish him the best. My issue is that Syracuse loses players early that may not even get drafted while peers in our division can keep players despite being first round draft picks. See the good news that FSU got today on two players Wilson/Terry who are returning, as an example.

I have no idea what is going on in his personal life and that pushes many people to make decisions. Given that, here are his Stats as he has only really played one year since high school. That being this past year with SU.

This doesn’t scream high round draft pick but that is me. I wish him the best of luck as he will always be a part of the SU family.

I think you are confusing the BB team with the FB team. I can't think of many SU FB players that have declared early for the draft.

a couple on the Dline and Mike Williams got the boot before his Jr year was complete but he would have bounced. Not many.

Only one I can think of in recent years is Chandler Jones.

Would love to be wrong, but I believe his only shot of being drafted is in the XFL

My guess would be Jackson received some guidance and he is making what he thinks is an informed decision. My guess would be that Dino provided his honest inputs as well. Usually it is the fans that are upset in these situations and such is life. Wish the young man well and hopefully he is successful.
