Trishton Jackson declares for the NFL Draft

Phillip Thomas and Eskridge come to mind, too.

Those 2 guys were completely misled. Not sure what went through their minds leaving early.

Neither had anything close to a realistic draftable grade despite what some reports said. It's a damn shame they didn't get their degrees. another reason I can't stand the NFL draft process/rules.

I think you are confusing the BB team with the FB team. I can't think of many SU FB players that have declared early for the draft.
I was thinking Thompson along with Chandler Jones. Chandler I could understand because he was going to be a high pick. Thompson, similar to Trishton didn’t make as much sense.

At the end of the day, how much would he realistically improve his stock if he stays? Probably not much.

The NFL is more and more following the NBA and drafting on potential versus production. So a five star can underperform his entire career aNd have a better shot than a 2 star that performs (see Dungey, Eric).

So as usual, the factory school wins and the rest of the league takes it on the chin.

Still very few and far between for SU FB players to declare for the draft.

Honestly, though, if SU had a number of players, say, over the last 15 years or so declare early, the W-L record would probably reflect that.
I wonder, over the past 15 years, what the numbers are for players at all D1 FB programs to declare early? I would think it's more prevalent in BB with the players now having the ability to test the waters.

Pretty sure it’s increasing in football. But basketball has led the way.

Will he even be invited to the combine? I wish Trishton well and hope he makes a teams roster in 2020.

My thinking is does he even get invited to the combine? Really big year for WR's in the draft.

If he wasn't gone before, he is now.
Yup. I tried to google this guy. He comes from near where Trish comes from. Don’t see much evidence of experience or expertise from him.

These people that take advantage of naive athletes make me sad. Hope Trish comes back and gets his degree someday.

Well, he will have his undergrad which works out for him. I would have hoped he got better representation especially as a fringe guy in this year's draft. If you're not a sure thing, having an agency with connections to front offices is something worth the fee. You'll get workouts and looks your friend won't be able to provide.

Sure, but the success level has also been behind the basketball team. Given our level of success, proportionally we've had a lot leave that only had a fringe chance of being drafted.

That scumbag reminds me of the guys Oshae and Tyus trained with last year.

Wish him well but really don't know what he's thinking. He might not even get drafted. Not wise.

Question - do you just hit ctrl-v to paste this response into every thread about a Syracuse college athlete leaving school before their eligibility is expired, or do you type them up hot and fresh each and every time? ;)

7 years ago, my wife left one position at a relatively large college to a similar position at a smaller college for less pay. The reasons were many and if she were posting here she might tell you. It was a good decision and she is happy.

That’s it. That’s the post.

I'm actually for football players leaving early esp running backs. This one is a head scratcher.
