I hope the NBA/players union will help the NCAA implement a system similar to the college baseball system where the really good and the totally delusional or misguided kids can go to the draft right after high school. If they come to college, they aren't eligible for the draft until their junior year. Then these guys can quit wasting the time Of the universities, coaches and fans.
because, after all, its all about you, isn't it?

Be careful what you wish for, or you won't even get one year out of the likes of Thomas Bryant. More and more of them are going to follow the path blazed by Brandon Jennings, Jeremy Tyler and Emmanuel Mudiay. Athletes have a very short window in which to earn money from their talents; there is absolutely no reason they should be playing for free (or for the peanuts that "free education" really represents).

who wouldn't rather be showcasing their skills in front of 2000 rabid fans in Kicksacowpie rather than on ESPN primetime.

That's nice, but Syracuse is a means to an end. That end being to get in the NBA. And I'm sorry, you can wax poetic about 30,000 in the Dome, ESPN, and top ten games against Duke, but none of that is going to trump a likely first round/lottery selection and a million dollar contract.

and those indeed are the epic matches they'll always remember. til next week. priceless.
"forget about that lame ass pittsburgh shot. i dropped 40 on the punxatawny punks."

Nothing to argue about there, his future is still in his hands, and a trade to another team is also possible. I commented in another thread that the Knicks could use him, but then it looks like they could use a lot.
Would love be to see him hoop with Melo on the Knicks. Raptors were really high on him pre-draft. Will be interesting to see if they try to trade for him at some point even though Vasquez has been a quality backup for Lowry.

I think if he improved his shot a bit he could be pretty good running the triangle offense because it doesn't necessarily need a lead guard who can beat his man off the bounce all day long.

Not the most honest comparison...he's getting 3.25 million to drop that 40.

like that money and more plus wouldn't be there in april. enjoy the d league.
but hey it's "all about the dollar season" so let's celebrate with this classic...

Alfred, Macy janitor: Yeah, there's a lot of bad 'isms' floatin' around this world, but one of the worst is commercialism. Make a buck, make a buck. Even in Brooklyn it's the same - don't care what Christmas stands for, just make a buck, make a buck.

I really think that would be better, as long as the ones who come to school are committed for 3 years. while the star power in college basketball might go down a bit, the overall quality of the game might be better as coaches will have some continuity. The fans might have an idea who will be on the team from year to year also. The game is not being ruined right now, but it is not where it was a decade ago. I'm a fan of college basketball, not individual players. totally disagree about the the education equaling peanuts. It is worth what the individual makes it worth.

like i just said. money can buy lots of nice things. but can never pay for some regrets.

Ummm you do realize nothing is guaranteed in draft spots right? Few years ago McAdoo from UNC, was considered a top 10 pick after his freshman year and recently went undrafted. Players like Ennis who aren't the quickest or most athletic usually see their stock fall not rise the longer they stay in college.

So he's going to regret making multi-millions and accomplishing his dream just because he didn't return to play ball for free to your enjoyment? Lol this thread is heading into classic status. th_kglaugh.png

I'm willing to bet there would be more regret for somebody who stays in school too long being a first round pick then moving out of the first round or the entire draft.

I'm willing to bet James Michael MacAdoo's regret is staying in school too long. There is a tremendous list of players that made a mistake of staying in school an extra year or longer, then there are players who stayed and it didn't change anything like Marcus Smart.

I'm not saying there aren't regrets leaving early, but there are regrets everywhere, one regret isn't greater than the other. If your true dream is to play in the NBA, you go when you believe you have the best chance to, Ennis did, and he went in the first round and lived his dream. I highly doubt if you had a dream and it was in your grasp that you would sit back and wait another year to jump on it and would jump on it as soon as the opportunity presented itself.

I promise I didn't copy your post, but almost everything we said is exactly the same hahaha

Really? Went from top10/lottery to late first round and 5th pg taken. He stock fell.

the Suns are doing this to preserve an asset, not to shed one
It doesn't matter "WHY" Staying at Syracuse for another year would have polished sand strengthen him with no loss of income. It could have been much more in the long run.

One and done in the NBA too!!! He should have stayed in school another year or two and buffed out in the weight room.

Well seeing as how the first two years of his 4 year contract are guaranteed (for a total of $3.25 million in those two years, mind you), that would be impressive if he was out of the league after one year.

I feel like people have never checked the economics. In 99% of cases, you're losing money the longer you wait to start your NBA service time.

Yeah but how often do you get to hit a buzzer beater against Pitt?

The absolute certainty with which people talk about Ennis' stock improving had he stayed is amazing.
