Tyus...

I'd take the other side of that bet all day long. He'll get drafted.
I’ve been saying it for 2 years now he won’t get drafted. He doesn’t shoot well. He’s not a pg and that’s not his game. He’s a euro type. Or the developmental league to never sniff an nba game.

i think that a point that some people miss on is that basketball is the most competitive team sport on the planet. there are something like 350 D1 college teams and there are 30 or so nba teams, not too mention the amount of foreign players that are good. football for instance, there are something like 120 college teams and 32 pro teams, but the vast majority of the world doesn't play football. there is a reason that nba players make so much money, it is literally the hardest team sport to be good in.

having said that, the point i want to make is about the competitiveness of the players. from a young age, basketball players challenge themselves by trying to play up, and by that i mean they are constantly trying to prove themselves by playing against older players. when i was in 8th grade i wanted to be on JV. when i was in tenth grade i wanted to be on varsity. the unfortunate truth for me was that i wasn't good enough and i had to accept that. these players we are talking about, whether it be tyus or malachi or ennis or lydon or etc...have never had to accept that they weren't good enough, until it got to the nba, because they were good enough. so my whole thing with guys leaving early for the nba is that i cant blame them because that is what they were taught to do, always play up, always challenge the guy ahead of you, always try for the next level.

Playing point is the best thing that could happen to Tyus. He isn't a 2 in the NBA
He came here with the intent on playing the point in the NBA, and he’ll leave with that likely being his best option. Still think it was crazy some were projecting him as a 2-3 wing type in the NBA last year. He’s 6 freaking 5. Can’t play the 3 in the NBA at that size.

He's gone - he knows we aren't great, he knows his clock is ticking and he knows he isn't getting drafted or improving his stock by sticking around.

We'll see. To be clear, I'm not saying he'll go in the first round but he will be drafted.

I think he came here intent on the 2 guard. I think evaluations from the NBA have made him realize he needs to show more pg skills.

I also think TB has embraced the info he got, he has applied himself immensely, and has shown tremendous improvement. He has a tight handle and has increasingly involved teammates, shown by the rising assists.

If Tyus had this aledged What look on his face it was probably due to the large deficit SU faced, not practicing and showing skills the NBA wants to see from him.

During his recruitment, he and his dad wanted assurances that he’d be given a chance to play point. I’m not conjecturing.

Ha, that look is reserved for OB and his step back 3's and wild drives.

You may not think you're conjecturing but something is off. TB didn't play point last year and was thinking all along he might go pro after the season, are you suggesting JB was welching on the supposed assurances?

And I don't think he would be seeing much pg time this year if it weren't for the struggles of FH and JC and the increased showing out of TB in the pg skills area and how it meshes with other players (Buddy).

His time at pg is earned, based off of team needs and player performance, not out of some prior assurances contract.

i know it's crazy but you could actually return and improve next year and slip in the draft due to age.
coming back this year with the whole core of the team returning after a good run tourney run probably made a little sense but i don't see where another season elevates his stock. that said by all means the door is open !

He actually took eye black and wrote "I'm Gone" under his eyes at halftime.

Surprised it didn't get more press.

This is absolutely hilarious. Nearly spit out my Coke. Haha haha!

I said this in a separate thread but I really believe it would be best for both parties to shift Tyus to point. And for exposure purposes, for him to come back next year and do it full time.

He's not a traditional PG, but he's certainly better than the roller coaster ride that is Frank Howard, or a very wet behind the ears Jalen Carey. Next year we have Goodine but is he a PG? I'm not convinced.

Frank will be upset but quite frankly, he has no reason to be upset at anyone but himself (or his unfortunate luck with his ankle).

He's gone.

You could see it on his face when he took over the PG role last game with Frank still on the floor...

And no one could blame him...

this is obviously 100%^ correct. and you could hear the mariachi strings begin playing; "I don't always play PG, but when i do..."

Maybe if JB tells TB he will run the point next year it might help get him back. I'm with you in believing Tyus is looking good at point and is getting better.

For the team, it would be a huge boast. Tyus at point, either Buddy or Eli at the 2, OB/Marek/and QG at forward (I think QG will be the most frosh ready and good) with the sore spot of center to still be worked out.

Personally, I think Tyus is gone. It looks to me like he has done what the NBA evaluators had asked. I hope it's enough, like to see him go early and have a productive career.

I think he's gone too. But I thought that last year, too.

Weird.

I heard polka band accordions...

I would like to hope for something like that, but it's not really an attractive job with no post threats to catch the ball and score.

the only way he stays, and it is a very long shot, is if he plays the point next year.

you guys all missed the memo.reason for our early losses was frank was injured and tyus had to play point.
at least that's the committee pitch. stick to the story and don't screw up the alibi.

I know this goes counter to one of your reserve points, but isn't it possible that Tyus and Buddy have improved? Immensely even.
