You are moving the goal posts. They are doing 1 and done. Don’t expect that from SU.
This is page 8, haven't seen one post on what is a better plan for us.

already did. Mac sunbelt cusa all better options. As is half the AAC. I know you are that dense that you need actual teams and dates listed.
That weekend or for the entire month? If we beat Bama and LSU...maybe.
Iowa might be caucusing that weekend.
it’s a hike for nyc area and Boston area fans. It is easier to get to SU for some NYC fans. You are right it is in the middle but bear nothing.
Yes I think playing games locally makes it easier to recruit. Not a novel concept.
Or the playoffs expand too, second time you missed that detailThe 2 for 2 doesn't make any sense.
All we did was protect ourselves if the ACC expands to 9 conference games. Then we would be stuck having to dump 1 nonconference game and Syracuse doesn't want to have buyout another game so they have a clause to drop the UConn games without penalty.
It's just insurance so we don't have to pay money to drop another game.
Playoffs expanding would have no impact on us opting out. It would be because the conference schedule goes from 8 to 9.Or the playoffs expand too, second time you missed that detail
But a 2 for 1 is similar. SU would have to send a significant amount of cash to UConn to get the extra game. You are moving the goal posts. They are doing 1 and done. Don’t expect that from SU.
Sure it would. Expanding to 6 teams not as much...but if they go 8, 10, 12 or 16 teams it surely would.Playoffs expanding would have no impact on us opting out. It would be because the conference schedule goes from 8 to 9.
These little opt outs don't justify this deal when UConn had no leverage.
How many fans we really going to bring to UConn? It is in the middle of nowhere and a PIA for most of our fans to get to? How’s the recruiting in that area? So does that help? The MAC, CUSA, and Sunbelt are full of Tomato cans. How are they not better options?
We have played UConn plenty. They are a stale home game and road trip. Variety is better than 4 games.
We played Akron 2 for 1.I try not to get into this argument anymore but I’ll chime in once more. Rentschler Field is in East Hartford, which is about 90 minutes from a good portion of much of our Northeast fan base. So it’s not in the middle of nowhere. And it’s certainly more appealing, now and then, to play a team like UConn than, say, Akron or UAB.
I’ll never understand the backlash of occasionally playing UConn.
But I’m sure I’ll get a number of offhanded responses claiming it’s beneath us.

We played Akron 2 for 1.
2008, 2009 at the Dome.
2010 at Akron.
We played Central Michigan 2 for 1.
2014 at CMU. 2015 and 2017 at the Dome.
We can get 2 for 1s with MAC teams that need home games.
UConn doesn’t sell any tickets in football at the Dome. Colgate brings double the visiting fans that they will bring.
Sorry I get you live in CT playing UConn to a series that is 2-2 is just bad terrible negotiating.
It’s a bad job.

I think your suggestion to play home and homes with teams from the other division of the ACC is a bad one. I am not sure why you want to do this. But it doesn't matter. We played Akron 2 for 1.

Goal is to schedule 7 home games three out of evey four years. Mission accomplished in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025. Jury is out on 2024 with one FBS game left to schedule. 2026 is locked with 6 home games.

Syracuse is at least 3-4 hours for most NY area fans. East Hartford is 90 minutes, 2 hours tops, for most NY area fans. Syracuse is 4.5 hours for myself in Connecticut. If Syracuse wants to start scheduling Temple or UMass or Army (more often), that would work as well.
I’ll be honest. Our football and basketball schedules are generally a bore and lack little regional interest. It’s nice that SU is trying throw a bone to its Northeast fans.
Find the teams in those conferences with a 2022 opening. I'll wait...
UConn is paying us what we are paying them. FactThis isn't a LOL situation. When everything I said was true.
UConn won this deal. It's not even a debate.
They got a P5 team to play them and not just play them home/home for 2 games but 4 games.
Syracuse has to schedule 4 nonconference games a year. It is really 3 nonconference games a year as we play a FBS team every year.
UConn has to schedule 12 games a year. They have no conference games.
UConn has no leverage. We don't have to play them. We gave them a sweetheart deal. It's not hard to comprehend when people don't try to spin this deal.
But yeah its funny.

We need to win as many OOC games as possible. Our goal is (and should be) to get to a point where we go to a bowl game every season.
Playing 2 P5 teams OOC in the same season will not help us get to that goal. It is ill advised for a program trying to re-establish itself.
Now if you are switching your scheduling plan now to focus on getting 2 for 1s, I agree this is a good thing to pursue. To your credit, you realize that we are already doing this and have scheduled a number of 2 for 1s with MAC schools. This is not a new concept you have come up with.
You appear to have confidence we can get 2 for 1s with MAC teams whenever we want them. I don't believe this is the case. The huge cash home only buy games the big programs are handing out like candy have changed the playing field. A bunch of MAC schools are signing up for these in lieu of playing 2 for 1s with schools like Syracuse (UB, Kent State, Akron, et al).
I believe we are trying our best to get 2 for 1s but it is a difficult task for a school like ours, with a small stadium and a smallish fan base. There aren't many opportunities out there and the longer we wait for them, our options become fewer and less attractive.
Keep your day job. I am sure you are a lot better at it than football scheduling.
