Ugliness at Rocky Top

I am seeing so many instances of fans throwing things onto fields, and hate that this is becoming a THING. A strong reaction from UT administrators might help quell this from building even more. This stuff has to stop, or there will be cages around football fields.

Societal degradation. Like South American soccer stadiums. I stopped taking my son to Cardinals (NFL) games. Trying to leave the stadium sometimes seemed like Thunderdome - with all the beer muscle fights over who gets to turn right to leave the stadium.

I’m pretty content with my TV at home - sadly.

Can only imagine what the scene is like outside of stadiums in Redneckistan.

was it a titleist ?

I remember the Dome used to be unique in that it was one of the few college stadiums that sold beer. I’m guessing that is no longer the case?

They were empty water bottles for crying out loud and 1 golf ball and 1 mustard "dispenser".

I always wonder what the unlucky random fan who gets stuck as the photo with a headline like this thinks when they see themselves plastered across Twitter.

That lady is probably just some HR Rep for a Tractor Supply chain in Knoxville who’s now the face of anarchy.
I can tell ya first hand who the unlucky fan is as That’s EXACTLY what happened to me a few years back front and center on syracuse.com with a front page article on rowdy troublemaker tailgaters!

They used the pic of me grilling sausage from the original Fine Mess article. Next thing I know my phones blowing up and a bunch of long time patients are calling my office with a heads up.

A quick call threatening immediate legal action took care of that very quickly. If that article went to press and was printed I’d be in Tahiti right now flying back and forth to games……:)

It’s long been a problem with concacaf soccer games. It’s sad , as upset as I get at SU games I never considered hurling things on the field.

Great Idea, I’m sure the P A system wasn’t telling fans to stop throwing things , and as we all know angry drunken fans are always very responsive to requests from the PA !!
Before the next game. People who are caught throwing things will be banned from attending games. I'm sure the administration at Ut is embarrassed and will stop that.

I think discouraging the culture of people drinking alcohol from the time they wake up on Gameday would probably do more. Maybe, don’t let people that are completely bombed in the doors in the first place.

That’s what should happen, the point being this is deplorable, your earlier post you implied this is no big deal. It is, by the way getting hit by objects from high n the stands is dangerous, be it golf balls , full water bottles , beer, your trailer keys ….whatever.

Cuse fans use to throw frozen oranges at the visiting team when I played which led to no oranges in the student dining halls beginning on Thursday. Rather get hit by a golf ball than an orange.
Ive been to hundreds of games . Saw a few Oranges thrown over the years , none recently, there was the backboard incident with Ewing shooting free throws. JT pulled his team from floor and JB told fans to quit it. Never heard of “frozen” oranges. They would hurt somebody .

People would throw snowballs, more like iceballs, at Archibald.

Again I was at Archbald games throughout the 70s. Don’t remember many games when there was snow, a few. Never saw snowballs hurled in large numbers. You will never completely stop every single moron. We are talking about mass hurling sessions like yesterday.

I thought this was another uniform thread. As I said last week, boy was I wrong.

How bout they just announce that this is unacceptable behavior before getting congress involved.
Im not sure who suggested getting Congress involved, but the UT admins sure ought to come down hard on this.
