Ugliness at Rocky Top

The injury thing is easy. If the game is stopped because you are hurt, you are out until a change of possession occurs.

Yeah exactly. This stuff isn’t rocket science. If you’re so hurt you can’t make it to the sideline then there’s no way you can play until you get an in depth evaluation which I like the turnover in possession idea.

i saw two cheerleader incidents this past weekend and forgive me for not remembering the games.
on one a cheerleader got major league rolled by a player out of bounds and popped right up and extended her arm up in the classic "go team" move. amazed she wasn't injured. the second a cheerleader got beaned in the back of the head with an out of bounds pass. she was laughing but mostly embarrassed and seemed unharmed. my question. i love them but do we need still them ? and where's the sexist outrage ?

Were they ever really needed? No. But the marching band isn't either. Or music being played over the PA system. Or video boards. But they comtribute to the atmosphere and there are students that want to do it.

The cheerleader who got hit on the head with with throw was a Clemson cheerleader. She didn’t appear hurt, so it was kind of funny from where I sat.

I always wonder what the unlucky random fan who gets stuck as the photo with a headline like this thinks when they see themselves plastered across Twitter.

That lady is probably just some HR Rep for a Tractor Supply chain in Knoxville who’s now the face of anarchy.
I was the victim of a similar circumstance. I was having a beer outside last year during the summer lull of Covid times. A local video crew was filming and I was unlucky enough to be caught on camera drinking a beer. The video footage ran on local news at least 3 times and nationally at least twice. It was always proceeded by news of people acting irresponsibly or Covid rates surging...then a close up of me drinking a beer. I still can't believe how many people recognized me and sent texts from a 3 second video clip.

am or pm ?

It was about 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. The sun was shining and all precautions were taken to stay safe and I hadn't been outside the house in months. Now I am stock footage for drinking irresponsibly during a global pandemic ;)
hmm. sunny day. inside for months.sounds irresponsible. please tell me you had on sunscreen or at least your drink had an umbrella.

Why is having a cheerleader s exist? Don't we also have male cheerleaders for most teams? I'm curious how this is even considered s exism. And no, we don't need them. We don't need lasers or dark lighting or mascots or play-by-play announcers or bands either.

This is getting off topic but the answer to all of the above is YES!!!

It must be an EXPERIENCE to attend the game, less than 20% of the people in the stadiums today I would classify as die hards. Most are using company tickets, entertaining clients, going for the social aspect, etc. Not to mention we need to get the younger demographic involved and make it exciting for them, the youth are the future students, season ticket holders and potential boosters!

To be honest the Dome is the perfect environment for the 3 ring circus thats needed for entertainment value. Controlled environment, light show, ability to host a big enough crowd but not overly huge, large scoreboard...we have the perfect venue for football and to entertain our fans.

My approach has always been to get a nice buzz going during tailgates, but then switch to bottled water during the game itself. Mostly because I don't want to have to get up to pee constantly and miss any of the game. So I honestly couldn't care less if games didn't serve beer.

I don’t drink but I used to. Can honestly say, going to football games is so much better this way. You remember everything and as you pointed out, don’t have to pee all the time. The only thing you miss out on is less fun at the tailgate but sober tailgating ain’t that bad. Having to pee all the time when in the dome is no fun.

Or how about pulling some video and arrest the ones you can identify.
Remember that snowball fight game ? Was it jets or giants ? Where the New York papers caught bunch of people in pics ?

If the school can’t ensure the personal safety of the cheerleaders, players, and everyone else on the field, the first step should be to stop selling alcohol during the game.
Yeah this isn’t rocket science here. People are getting bombed and then doing stupid stuff. Then you have a sprinkling of morons who see the drunks doing stupid stuff and are like ”Hey! Yeah….they suck! (Throws stuff). Having a beer or two fine….know when to stop.

It'll help that Lane Kiffin won't be back for a while. The jilted-by-a-girlfriend-I-never-wanted-to-see-go effect is strong here in Knoxville.

It hurts real bad, man.
