UNC Post Game

dasher , following up on your response to owing Red 9 mil if we want him gone this year, why did we give Red anything other than a minimum contract that’s easy to get out of given that he has no HC experience? Was he really in that high of demand?
There was zero demand! If it’s true we gave such a deal then that person should be fired before Red is fired.

Former syracusefan poster John Wildhack should be able to scrape up some money for the Autry buyout fund from his personal bank account, which has been padded by the sweet employee discount he received when two of his children matriculated to Syracuse University.

I enjoyed Kevin Brown taking after Sean McDonough and sneaking in some editorial commentary about Syracuse’s strategy in the final seconds: “…this is taking too much time…and they end up taking a 2.”

Always a glimmer of hope, a little run here or there and you think theres a chance. But, where last year they had the talent to overcome decisions, this year its their ultimate undoing

Kept ESPN on for the Texas game. Didn’t realize but Texas is 15-10. I thought they were going to be good this year and that us keeping it close against them was a highlight of the season. I guess not lol

Just to confirm….

Eddie was at the line to cut the game to 2 with 1 min left in the game. We needed a stop.

Red made the decision to go with the following lineup:

Eddie
Taylor
Cuffe
JJ
CARLOS

That was the lineup.

Ok.

This guy doesn’t know what he’s doing
Dude, he saw Villanova do the 4 guards thing 20 years ago. It’s got to work!

You need Lampkin in the game. Cuffe is an example why this team can’t beat good teams. Why would he even think about shooting a three in that spot? It’s just not thinking the game. He got caught in the game because we were pressing, but didn’t need to press when we cut it to two. He couldn’t take him back out without calling a timeout. Red should have called a time out when we were caught with Cuffe on offense. The big play was Carlos giving up the easy layup to Cadeaux. That can‘t happen.
Matador defense, go around. Ole!

Yep Texas not had a great season. Texas Tech and Maryland are both pretty good.

I don’t know what the lowest point was, but here’s a few choices.
-Cuffe coming off the bench and firing up a wild three that never had a chance on the biggest possession of the game. Earlier in the season, I admired Cuffe for sitting on the bench, staying ready and playing well when he had a chance. He has turned into a selfish chucker and I’ve seen enough.
-For the second straight game Petar committing a foul as the shot clock winds down 40 feet away from the basket. On both occasions, he ran at the player with the ball wildly with no regard for not committing a foul. That has to be fixed.
-i’m guessing the analytics guru we have on the bench was not on board with taking a two point shot when we were down by six with 12 seconds left. That effectively ended the game.
-Carlos got absolutely toasted by Cadeau off the dribble even though everyone watching the game knew that Cadeau can’t shoot from the outside and of course nobody decided to come off their man and help on the biggest defensive stand of the game. Why wouldn’t the staff have Carlos play 5 feet off of Cadeau and beg him to shoot? Ona related note Carlos was one for seven from the field and saw fit to take the majority of those shots in the paint against much bigger defenders.
-Eddie played hard and was effective on offense and at the line but he was absolutely atrocious on defense. It might be that once again he was asked to play over 30 minutes and he’s out of shape but I don’t know if red really had a choice in that regard. Maybe he would not get repeatedly beat on defense if he was in shape but that’s just a guess.
-last, Bell disgraced himself by blatantly refusing to go after a rebound in the first half. Words cannot describe how tired I am of that particular player.

Was it Taylor? I thought it was Petar?

It was definitely Taylor. I noticed it immediately. I couldn’t believe we had two midgets, two 6’4” guys and Lampkin out there. And they played zone with Taylor and Cuffe as forwards for at least a possession.

I’d have to go back but according to the play by play. Petar was taken out at 1:15

Could be right I just didnt remember seeing Taylor.

If JW put a $3m per year multiple year contract in front of Red he deserves to be fired alongside Red. That’s moronic for an unproven coach that was making nowhere close to that as the Associate Head Coach. Shows the ineptitude of the program.
He’s not getting $3 million. Maybe $2 million.

I watched the first half. Then kept tabs via GameCast in the 2nd and watched the Night Agent with the family.

I’m happy with my choice.
