UNC Post Game

I don’t know what the lowest point was, but here’s a few choices.
-Cuffe coming off the bench and firing up a wild three that never had a chance on the biggest possession of the game. Earlier in the season, I admired Cuffe for sitting on the bench, staying ready and playing well when he had a chance. He has turned into a selfish chucker and I’ve seen enough.
-For the second straight game Petar committing a foul as the shot clock winds down 40 feet away from the basket. On both occasions, he ran at the player with the ball wildly with no regard for not committing a foul. That has to be fixed.
-i’m guessing the analytics guru we have on the bench was not on board with taking a two point shot when we were down by six with 12 seconds left. That effectively ended the game.
-Carlos got absolutely toasted by Cadeau off the dribble even though everyone watching the game knew that Cadeau can’t shoot from the outside and of course nobody decided to come off their man and help on the biggest defensive stand of the game. Why wouldn’t the staff have Carlos play 5 feet off of Cadeau and beg him to shoot? Ona related note Carlos was one for seven from the field and saw fit to take the majority of those shots in the paint against much bigger defenders.
-Eddie played hard and was effective on offense and at the line but he was absolutely atrocious on defense. It might be that once again he was asked to play over 30 minutes and he’s out of shape but I don’t know if red really had a choice in that regard. Maybe he would not get repeatedly beat on defense if he was in shape but that’s just a guess.
-last, Bell disgraced himself by blatantly refusing to go after a rebound in the first half. Words cannot describe how tired I am of that particular player.
I’ve put into words how tired I am of that particular player, but I get deleted

Just to confirm….

Eddie was at the line to cut the game to 2 with 1 min left in the game. We needed a stop.

Red made the decision to go with the following lineup:

Eddie
Taylor
Cuffe
JJ
CARLOS

That was the lineup.

Ok.

This guy doesn’t know what he’s doing
if all of us pool our giving together... does it matter?
because it does at other universities.
until that happens, these ishte decisions will be made.

After 26 games, who’s our third best player? I think we’ll have several players named, which is one of our biggest problems. Petar makes some mistakes, but he does so many little things that helps teams. His flash to the high post when JJ was doubled near mid court was a great play. He turned and found Eddie for a layup. Tell me who else on this team would have the court sense to make that play? I’m glad he’s getting more time because he’s going to end up being very good. He still needs to close out better, but Davis shows no sense of urgency getting out on shooters.

Everything stinks. It’s fruitless to assess levels of blame between the coaching, players and talent acquisition. Because the program is literally bad in every possible respect.
Honestly, at this point, I’m willing to blame Red specifically for this season.

Per all accounts from people “in the know”, the staff loved Carlos and felt we had a great roster. This isn’t a situation where he said it in the press or anything. This is the back door PR channels. Like when people said Hughes or Wes were studs before we saw them. We have plenty of receipts saying it from people we all believe.

So that tells me he was the problem with the roster evaluation and, of course, his game day coaching has been horrible. This is on him

If JJ comes back it has to be as a 6th/7th man imo. He’s a “get mine” guy.
I heard the same crap last year about Judah. Do you realize that JJ is the only kid other than Dry Rub that can beat his man. Do you get that. We don't have anyone else that can get a basket. Nobody. Without JJ who scores. Who gets to the basket. Name them.

Same boat here, who cares how much money you have if you cant spot talent. You're not getting the top guys in the portal regardless of how much money you have (SEC will outbid you and people want to play for those coaches) so you need to find the tier 2 hidden gems. We dont seem to be able to do that

Plus the big elephant in the room is what top-level program-changing talent is going to want to come to a bottom-tier ACC team with a coach who hasn't shown much if anything at all? You can have all the money in the world but if the top talent wants to go play for the top programs or the top coaches and we have neither we are going to be left getting talent like Eddie who is talented but has major flaws.

The history of token starters in this program is loooong…lots to get on Red about. This isn’t one of them.

Fab Melo was lucky to make it to the first dead ball his freshman year.
Coleman, Fab, Rakeem.

Very good show. A little 24 ish but I personally like it.

Is the second season any good? I thought the first season was fairly decent.

JJ can’t shoot or play d. He’s not a starting level player on a good team. Judah was clearly better.

If JJ comes back with some shooters he can be a huge weapon. The kid scored twenty points in the second half. What the heck do people want? Did he take a couple of tough shots? Sure, but he also brought us back in the game. What’s great about JJ he’s not afraid to fail. There’s not a lot of kids like him. You bring back JJ, Freeman and Petar and you have three winners. Mix in our freshman and 2-3 quality portal kids and we can have a good season. What little talent this team has and people want to run off their best player. It’s hard to understand.

I am talking about next year. Do you get that?

They need to find a better team fit imo.
