There is no way the NCAA as we know it today will be around in five years. Hopefully it's replacement will be much more in tune with the real problems of college athletics.

SU's biggest mistake was having the basketball staff get involved.

But spare me if anyone believes UNC's staff didn't know. But it's not what you know... it's what you can prove.

Agree with your speculation. Of course they knew.

But there's the apples/oranges difference between the two cases: without SU's basketball staff involved, there's no problem. That was the violation and the smoking gun proof. The other school has clear as day circumstantial evidence, but it's not enough for the NCAA.

I'm more surprised by the posters who continued to strongly assert the NCAA would hammer them. The only hope I held was that the NCAA decides their punishments so randomly but for UNC, come on! If this were Duke, there never would've been an investigation.

Jay Bilas' take disappointed me. At least say they gamed the system. Something. To just tweet that the investigation wasn't in their jurisdiction and was a waste of money is really weak.
