Urban Meyer Knew of Abuse Allegations Against Ohio State Coach in 2015

That's even a good point! Greeny made golic but golic forgot that and they couldn't get along. Greeny was clearly the talent. Golic is a grunt. His kid IS better than him, what bugs me is he got tbe job through daddy and as talented heads were falling, he was climbing. Thanks for the chat!:)
Just trying to be succinct lol I don’t disagree with you

You accomplished succinct. Sad, bc sport's talk radio is a big part of my life having a commute. Maddog Russo is my guy ;)

This guy loved to bask in all that garbage “leader of men” nonsense. Well upstanding crafters of young men don’t employ a.s.s.holes who beat their wives.

tOSU will probably find a way to keep him though. Wins are what matters in college sports. And money. Nothing else.

Might be different since me too

i know people HATE schiano on this board but he got lynch mobbed out of a job at Tennessee on the flimsiest of evidence that Penn St refuted. It made the Bernie Fine allegations look rock solid.

I hope Schiano ends up in the job which would be the irony of irony

Lol

Biggest loser is ND because ultimately that was his dream job.

I fully expect him to coach in the NFL now. Seems like a perfect guy for Jerry Jones.

He's toast and assuredly unhirable in the near future.

The one thing you cannot do in 2018 is cover-up knowledge of domestic violence.

Those have to be some doozie texts and photos that McMurphy has.

I'm glad Syracuse is very tough on domestic violence. Oh wait, we're in the genuflecting department as well!

I don’t think they have any path to keep him. But I’m certain they’re trying. When the pictures come out, it’s over.

I bet he’s coaching again within 3 years. Might be a G5 school first. America’s collective attention span is very short.

We’ll see. If there’s no smoking gun he’ll jus claim that his wife never told him. And all the people who care more about institutions than people will swallow that BS and clamor that he be retained.

I mean does this help us with recruiting

Nothing. Could be an extremely minor trickle-down effect but unlikely as they operate on a different level and usually a different area than us. They had power to come in and possibly steal an elite NYC kid if they wanted but now that kid will just look at PSU or ND.

He is done.
The fact is he doesn’t have any deniability. If he tries to throw his wife under the bus which is the only chance he has no one will believe the wife never told him privately.
If the wife never talked with the victim then he could have survived but the wife knowing and the fact these coaches are dictators on campus means he knew.
He probably gave the code red to the people in the story that got the victim not to file any police charges. She was talked out of it.
That is why it’s coming out now she finally had enough.

Yeah, we also have another wife already quoted in the texts saying that Urban spoke to Smith about it too. So we have Urban's wife telling the victim that she was going to tell Urban and also another person verifying that Urban knew about it.

Stop.
What a joke this post is. Jake’s post has nothing to do with Syracuse.

It's a Syracuse board and when our collective outrage and glee about the downfall of ohio st is complete, we can look inward and see the stupidity of having this statue in front of Manley. This isn't alerting authorities, this is our exalted former great who actually beat up multiple women and admitted it.

People asking how this helps recruiting answers my questions about how people bring it back to Syracuse. It's a valid question but don't throw stones is my point.

I'm sorry if you are offended by a guy who offends me.

Great prophet Finebaum says Urban’s gone

Are we really trying to argue if he'll coach again. OF course he will. Schools want to win and don't really care about domestic violence. I think his best shot is going to the NFL and I think Jerry Jones would have no problem hiring him when he cans Garrett after this year.

He was never going to coach at ND after he demanded all of those concessions on JUCO's and marginal kids in 2004. ND said no and Urban went to Florida. Bridges burnt.

1) Why anyone is still building statues in the 21st century is beyond me.

2) That plaque is awful.

We approve of the essential name repetition in such close proximity.

A few things (i admittedly have not deep-dived this, nor than i intend too):

1. Did Meyer do a coverup, or did he just not report what Smith's saying occurred (or what he and his wife knew/believed to have occurred)?

2. Did Meyer/his wife even have a legal duty to report? Assuming Smith's wife was not an employee of OSU, she has no recourse under Title IX, which pertains to employees and students. Lots of parents/spouses/family members of public employers are subject to bad things and are in no way covered under Title IX.

3. Without condoning it, domestic violence situations are really tricky. I am not in law enforcement, but their is a reason police officers can usually act as complainants for domestic violence charges - the victim often doesnt cooperate or want the offender prosecuted. While nobody should certainly condone violence, its difficult to turn around and fire someone from their job when that is their means of financial supporting their family and even the person they have victimized.

4. Did Ms. Smith ever go to law enforcement? Is this a case where on one hand she was opening up about the trauma she endured, while on the other simply going along with it (for whatever reason)?

While in the end, it wouldnt bother me if Meyer got his walking papers, because as a man, i dont know how you can't look at another man and say "you're a scumbag, there is no place for your BS or you on this team working with kids," and then fire the guy, this strikes me as very different than PSU, Baylor, or MSU.
