USC and UCLA to the Big Ten

That works out nicely for football but what about BBall and other sports? Do they share that as well?

So I am guessing we see...

12:00 Fox 3rd pick B1G game
12:00 BTN last pick B1G game (aka whomever plays Rutgers)
2:30 ND on NBC
3:30 CBS 2nd pick B1G game
3:30 FS1 5th pick B1G game
3:30 BTN 7th pick B1G game
7:30 NBC 1st pick B1G game
7:30 FS1 4th pick B1G game
7:30 BTN 6th pick B1G game

That kind of stinks for Fox. They get the worst Tier 1 game and time. You would think they would just take the entire B1G package and not share.

Edit

Actually it is worse than that for Fox. If USC or UCLA are at home and the 3rd best game, they can't chose them for noon.

If ESPN can put the saved money from their Big10 deal behind the ACC/PAC alliance plus the SEC, they have way, way, way better content. How much Big10 can the rest of the country watch, it's like, how much oatmeal can you eat.

Nope. Fox gets first pick.

From The Atlantic:

The Big Ten’s offer rejected by ESPN was for only 13 of the Big Ten’s “B”/“C” package of games; ESPN had also looked at a primetime package. Fox has already landed the league’s “A” package of games, which it will carry in the noon window.

That still doesn't make a lot of sense.

Why would Fox be willing to give up primetime games, even with the 1st pick at noon? And that first pick can never be a USC/UCLA home game?

Is CBS really going to pay big bucks for the #3 game? They are going from SEC game of the week to the 3rd biggest B1G game. And they can't bump to a primetime game if they wanted. Huge step down so why pay? They would be better served going for the B12 and P12. The best game goes to CBS at 3:30 and the rest can be shown on CBSSN and Paramount+. They get a lot more content and save a lot of money. The B1G #3 won't be much different ratings wise than the B12/P12 game of the week.

NBC makes sense since they have nothing and get the primetime slot.

Sets up two camps

SEC/ACC under one flag

The B1G is going under a different flag

The PAC10 and Big12 are a blend

Notre Dame will do whatever earns them the most regardless of the ACC

This could really affect conference realignment...will ESPN pay to grab more teams under their flag?

I assume that the BT still, as it always has, most wants to be the richest. I think the BT thinks that it has done that by adding SC and UCLA. But the BT also wants to be at least to as good in football as the SEC is. Even adding ND cannot do that because talent is overwhelmingly from the Southern, from Baltimore down across TX. Zo the BT actually requires a number of Southern ACC schools in order to pull up to the SEC level in football. And the only way that could come to pass is if ESPN very stupidly decided to screw the ACC.

ESPN should realize that if it pays the ACC what it should, the ACC remains together and likley gets a bit stronger in football. That means even idiots on the Left Coast and the worst ND fans will realize how weak BT football is.

I could see ESPN merging conference network media between the ACC and P12, and expanding both while killing off the B12.

They can have the ACCN replaced by the Atlantic Pacific Coasts Network.

They can have both expand to 15 teams each. The P12 can add Kansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Houston, and Boise State. The ACC can add Cincinnati. So the B12 goes down to 7 schools (BYU, Baylor, TCU, Kansas State, Iowa State, West Virginia, UCF). Who is paying for that conference?

They can have a scheduling agreement. So 10 of the 15 teams in league play each other. The other 5 ACC teams play ND instead. So for SU we would have 8 ACC games, 1 P12/ND game, and 1 OOC P5 game. For FSU they would have 8 ACC games, 1 P12/ND game, and Florida.

The P12 could go to 3 divisions of 5 for all sports. North- Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Boise State. South- Cal, Stanford, Utah, Arizona, Arizona State. East- Houston, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Colorado.

Since the B12 wouldn't be consider P5 anymore, ESPN would then control 46 of the 62 P4 schools.

If the rest of the networks are smart they will also drop their bids and leave B10 free falling.

ESPN is basically fully committing to ACC and SEC with this move

That’s a good thing for Syracuse
That should be what it means. And that would require ESPN to rework our contract.

ESPN being what it is now, I will not be surprised in the least if it says that for the ACC to get top dollar, it must drop Wake and replace that tiny school with at least 1 larger state school in a state not already in the ACC.

Boooooooo keep wake they deserve it they’ve proven they can contend in the acc, unlike Vanderbilt in the sec.
