USF opens as a 5 point favorite

That bye week was perfectly timed--both for Dungey and for Philips.

ED took a brutal hit against CMU; glad we had some extra time with the bye / took some extra time with LSU game week to give him a full three weeks to recuperate.
Agreed. The schedule worked out perfectly for us, which is amazing considering our recent run of bad luck with injuries.

Barring some unforeseen setback, I'm expecting to see Dungey on Saturday. I'm keeping it at 90% or so just because I don't like dealing in absolutes when it comes to injuries.

Life generally teaches you that there are no absolutes...except death, taxes, and snow in Syracuse in the winter,

If you go by the way teams played last week the spread would seem reasonable. USF played Memphis close, and they beat Cincinnati, which beat Miami pretty easily. But Scott's team comes to play, unlike Miami which never seems to play to the level they recruit. Losses like that hurt the perception of the ACC on the national stage.
Line is crazy. I expected us as a 3-5 point favorite. It shows you what Vegas thinks the betting publics perception of us.

There was a whole season back in 05 or 06 when Rutgers was beating the spread every week because the lines were so low because the public refused to bet on them.

That's where we are now. We should a great value the rest of the season. We are 3-1 ATS so far this year.
We would be 4-0 if Eric didn't get taken out by the CMU player.

Thank you. There is a lot of nonsense that is thrown around on this board. Witness the Canadian's post that had absolutely no basis in fact. If the person is in a position to know, that's great. And I buy it.
Boston...you realize he might have sources? I trust what Jek sez as his track record is VG for getting things right.

Do you know if he even dressed? Was he up in the box with Lester?

One person told me he wasn't even in the building. Maybe the locker room who knows. But not on the field, not in the stands nor in the box. Even a minor concussion, when also near 100% recovered, can be effected by bright lights and loud noise. But don't take this as fact.

I just hope this isn't one of those Wayne Root "doesn't make sense" lines.

Wait, that's right - I don't know about Eric, but I know that previous concussion protocol was to stay out of the Dome. I know Dunkelberger was watching from his apartment because the staff wouldn't let him in the Dome for the exact reasons you mention.

He did tell me there was another player too. I had forgot Dunk had a concussion too. Maybe he was the second one not in the building.

Well that and only a sith deals In absolutes

Tough to make a program like Syracuse a road favorite over anyone really. I "get it" when it comes to this line. If the game was in the Dome the line would be the same number just with Syracuse favored

I remember Dunk was tweeting during the game, which I found peculiar, but it makes sense now if he was concussed recently.

I am patiently awaiting Cusian's apology :rolling:

You win, man.

But there is still plenty of time for it to swing back.

Luckily there wont be any noise @ USF other than Cuse fans. So it shouldnt bother ED.

I'm actually OK with Vegas making USF favorites. It will only serve as more motivation for SS's boys to focus on making a statement down in Florida.

We will win this game

Odd line for sure. Is Vegas on tilt after losing their @$$ on the LSU/Cuse game? Seems SU +5 is BEGGING for money on Cuse but I can't figure out why there would've been so much early money on USF to necessitate that...

I've never bet $ on a game but I'm pretty tempted to drop 500. Anyone want to inbox me that does bet on a regular basis, not even sure how to get started/best website.

Because other than us fans in Upstate NY, not many people have seen Syracuse play with Dungey. They didn't see what he was capable of in the second half of CMU, and the first half of Wake. All some have seen was the game against LSU. The national takeaway was that Fournette is a beast, and LSU played down, and committed a lot of penalties, where as locally we saw a team about to take off once healthy. I don't think that on a national level, as much as we would like it too, it changed many peoples perception of Syracuse. Eastern Michigan put up a good fight, and nobody on the national level is talking about how EMU hung in there. They're talking about Fournette, and that the OC used the game to attempt to get the passing game involved.
I'm guessing there will be people making money on this game in Syracuse NY, Winston Salem N.C., Mount Pleasant Michigan, and Baton Rouge, LA.

Right but I still don't see USF having enough money behind them to push the line. That's the part of the equation I can't figure out. You're spot on about the perception of SU but why would there be a positive $$$$ push for a 1-3 USF team who's only win is against an 0-5 FAMU team?
