for the love of god let those hillbilly's in. It's always more exciting with them in the fold.

The comedy writes itself and they have damn good sports programs. I don't care if their academic standing is 100 spots behind everyone else in the conference, every liter needs a runt and by god WV should be that runt! I would rather have WV than Rutgers any day.

The academics will be too much to overcome for the ACC, as well as I think they'd fit athletically.

The ACCs got to get over the academics here. Letting in 1 school with weak academics isn't going to somehow destroy the other schools academic reputations and WV is far and away the best program left in the big east.

Not only no, but hell no. We have enough of their brand of hillbilly crap on my campus every two years when Georgie comes to town.

I hope they come along too. Much stronger football and hoops program than Rutgers. I actually like their fans better too.

If you had to chose 2 out of the following 3: UConn, RU or WVU, I'd pick UConn and WVU in a HEARTBEAT.

I don't think it will work out that way, though.

They already have FSU and NC State bringing up the rear, don't think they want to add another awful academic school.

not a chance WVU had better hope the SEC needs a 16th

I think its a joke that they are being punished for academics when you consider some of the other existing universities already in the ACC. Considering their existing rivalries with Pitt, Maryland and SU, I think they bring a lot to the table. Small TV audience sure, but man do they travel well for away games and bowl games. That has to be worth something.

Ga Tech hillbillies?

Isn't Tech a great academic institution?

The lowest US News ranked schools in the ACC are NC State and FSU at #101. West Virginia is #164. They don't have enough of an upside to overcome that.

And Ga Tech has some hillbillies (more likely rednecks, but the differences between the two don't matter here). My point is that my exposure to the West Va fanbase (2008 Gator Bowl) were not positive and reminded me more of the great unwashed masses of Georgie, Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee hillbillies than our more civilized brethren from the ACC.

I say bring in WVU with PSU

The ACC can just impose they have to improve academics to stay or they become ineligable for championship play if they dont meet a required increase each year

I mean conferences ask schools to improve facilities , Buildings etc... why cant you do it to academics also?

Academic rankings are largely based on the number of acclaimed PhD research professors at the school. Where they got their degrees from, quality/volume of published research, etc.

Ironically, there is very little correlation between the quality of TEACHING you received from an highly acclaimed PhD. Helps the school to have them, but doesn't necessarily help the student to learn from them.

I think most people that went through college realize their best professors weren't always their most acclaimed research professors.

Tell that to the presidents voting :)

I always found the best professors were the ones that werent narcissistic socialists. :)

In a perfect world, it'd be fun to have WVA. Market potential and conference security dictates ACC officials will more likely look elsewhere.
