VA TECH Post Game

You'd think that would provide some motivation from the AD to move forward, especially with the potential media attention brought by Anthony and company.

Instead, any source of excitement for next year is dead, unless you're an insider that wants one more year of access and fears an outsider (read: actual coach) coming in and restructuring. Literally the only people I know that are not outraged and vocal about a potential Red Year 3 are people who actually know the guy personally.

For the good of the program: GET OVER IT!
It takes a rare breed of person to admit you made a hiring mistake. I think JW isn’t not that type of person. He screwed up but isn’t going to admit it by firing Red because he’s knows he could (should?) be shown the door too.

Only thing that is helping JW is he was smart enough to answer Fran’s phone call

VPI's head coach likely gave his entire team in the locker room the hug of their lives for bailing him out for his end of regulation strategy/debacle. Coming off a time out, it was if his team had no clue what it wanted to do with 4.5 seconds left and a 3 point lead. No pressure on the inbound play, no one on Carlos as he caught the ball around half court and then watching the defender back peddle while Carlos takes the wide open prayer three at the buzzer, the only thing you didn't want done in that moment.

No doubt that shot was going down. It was the basketball gods' way of saying to Young, don't be so disrespectful. :p

Red sux. Yawn

But JJ is just a terrible team player. At his very best he keeps both teams in the game. When he’s off it’s a death knell.

If JJ is anymore than a Vinnie Johnson guy off the bench next year, just skip the season.

Also, I don't think it's a matter of "him" having been wrong. His hands were tied. Not sure if that makes termination any easier, though... especially when Red IS still an all-time great SU player and by all accounts a fantastic person that leads the program with honor and character.

Some folks just aren't cut out for this type of role. Doesn't make me think anything less of him as a person.

Today is another example of a wasted season. I think there no point to look for a culprit every game. We need to find a philosophy for our team. I’m thinking about houston. Not a lot of nba talent but a nasty defense that leads to a lot of victories every season. Unless you are able to have 2 or 3 nba talents every year ( and that time is gone, maybe), i think it’s time to build a team from the defense and to choose your players accordingly.

I’m telling you . He made some deal with a genie that affords him the ability to be very good for a finite portion of each game but once it wears off it’s as if he never played basketball. Now the problem is neither he nor the genie controls what segment of the game this will entail.

Don't know why but for some reason this loss hurts.
It shouldn't under the season long circumstances.
But it does.
We have had so few quality victories this year that anytime we let a sure victory get away it hurts. We should make the ACCT but a victory today and in our finale against UVA would have been a positive ending to a dismal season. We might have even avoided an opening day game in the ACCT.

VT couldn't handle Davis and Lampkin down low. For 32 minutes the strategy of dumping the ball down low to them worked. Then suddenly the offense changed to JJ and Carlos just pounding the ball on the perimeter until late in the clock and then JJ forcing a bad drive or shot. Did Red order that?
What the hell happened. When JJ got fouled taking a trey and missed all 3 free throws I knew that would cost us the game.

I find it amazing that every team makes halftime adjustments except Syracuse. And to make matters worse we then fail to make adjustments based on what the other team is doing. It's not a mystery why we keep losing.

I just caught the end so I have to assume that that cuffe took a dump at mid court or something because I'm trying to understand the minutes and the statistics I'm seeing in the box score

I genuinely don’t know how to process the thought that NEXT year is already a throw away if Autry is the coach… I don’t care who’s on the roster, I just don’t see it if Red remains. In my 41 years of life I’ve never experienced that feeling with Syracuse basketball, ever.

Jyare 5-5 at the line. that's a good thing. starling's empty turkey trot late at the line. bad. very bad.

Once you understand who our coach is, you give up trying to understand anything that happens on the court because nothing makes sense and it is usually always wrong.

Did you watch Davis down the stretch? Bad shots and horrible turnovers, but I don’t understand Lampkin never getting the ball in the post.
