I am thinking a 2 year deal, chance to run his system, hire all his own assistants and the fact that Matt Rhule goes through a DC every year doesn't hep eitherAre we thinking we offered $2M/year or more to beat out Nebraska?
$2 million would put him in pretty lofty company. I am no insider, but I'd be surprised if it was that much. Are we thinking we offered $2M/year or more to beat out Nebraska?
I can see that perspective. Maybe he trusts his position guys and coordinators to take care of that. Maybe he wouldn't hire a coach that he couldn't trust with that aspect of coaching.then that's a bad decision and it's not good for the overall management of the team during practice. So for example, during position drills he's with his unit and not able to float around the practice watching everybody's unit and making sure kids are focused and dialed in and coaches are teaching.

How much time to they spend in position group drills? Would it be that different than when Beamer ran special teams?
I'd lay money that Fran got stretched too thin this year for exactly the reason you stated, and others too. And it showed.Trusting your coaches is sort of necessary. If he doesn't he should get rid of them.
It's not just position group drills though. If I'm doing O v D, for example, I'd want the HC overseeing everything and I'd want the DB coach just focused on DBs. The HC stretches himself too thin imo, if he's also a position coach, and it negatively impacts the overall management and direction of the team.
Special teams is a bit different since it involves the whole team, but the same applies, I don't think it's a good decision.
I imagine one of the attractions for Coach Kehres is to learn the Fran Brown Recruiting Method. Especially if he aspires to coach a P4 program.$2 million would put him in pretty lofty company. I am no insider, but I'd be surprised if it was that much.

USA Today recently updated its list of college football's highest-paid assistant coaches, with defensive coordinators leading the way.www.on3.com
Is Bill Snyder still alive? I believe he was almost 80 when this pic was takenThis list just taught me that early 2010s Kansas State QB Legend Collin Klein was one of the highest paid coordinators in college football which then taught me he was just hired to be the next Head Football Coach at Kansas State

Still alive and after digging here his is at the spry age of 86 at Collin's Introductory Press Conference a few days ago!Is Bill Snyder still alive? I believe he was almost 80 when this pic was taken
He's looking good. I was really annoyed by our ineptitude against KSU in the fiesta bowl game. It seemed like another missed opportunity during the McNabb years.Still alive and after digging here his is at the spry age of 86 at Collin's Introductory Press Conference a few days ago!

Terrible flashback. At the Tenn game this year I was telling my son how much the Tenn DB’s were getting away with, especially against JRS, and that if the refs were going to call it that way we needed to be more illegal in our own coverage. That Fiesta Bowl was the worst mugging I have ever seen on our WR’s without what should have been penalties. Burns me to this day, KSU can rot in the AAC.He's looking good. The refs remembered in 2010 when they gave the KSU kid an unsportsmanlike penalty for doing a salute after the TD that, with a successful 2 pointer, would have tied the game but instead made the 2 pts too tough to pull off. Revenge!Terrible flashback. Tied with the unbelievable exhibition of holding that Bryant McKinnie got away with against Freeney. Grudging that one to this day as well.
I totally forgot JRS was on the team…Terrible flashback. I was there. Play on the field was the only bad part of an amazing few days. So much fun running into SU people everywhere. We had dinner outside on NYE, something that could never happen here in Syracuse. He's looking good. I was really annoyed by our ineptitude against KSU in the fiesta bowl game. OMG yes almost forgot about that call, I was yelling at the refs for being idiots for a moment and then was like WAIT it's not on us for onceThe refs remembered in 2010 when they gave the KSU kid an unsportsmanlike penalty for doing a salute after the TD that, with a successful 2 pointer, would have tied the game but instead made the 2 pts too tough to pull off. We need ST, DB/S, and LB I think. Is the new DC going to take a group?how many spots are we left trying to fill? A STeams guy
Good to hear, and I'd trust him with dual roles since he's proven he can handle it. LB's going to be making the defensive calls for us I'd expect.Kehres was DC/LB at Toledo.
I'm sure he appreciates itGood to hear, and I'd trust him with dual roles since he's proven he can handle it.
