Kehres was DC/LB at Toledo.

FWIW, I think Kehres will have the title of Assistant head coach/defensive coordinator here. Same title ERob had.

I believe it's the HC + 10 assistants.
2024 they had two on the DL (Robinson/Williams).

It's entirely conceivable for Kehres to be only the DC and not coach a position group specifically.
So it would be:
Nixon, Nunz, Johnson, Castillo, Gattis
DL Coach, LB Coach, DB Coach, Kehres
ST Coach.

Under Dino the DBs had two full assistants. So there's some variance in how the number is deployed.

With five DBs starting, and sometimes a Dime defense being out there, it makes sense to have two DBs coaches.

In this new college FB environment, many programs are going to have to be satisfied with that. Not everyone can "aspire to win national championships." There's just too much fricking competition and things that are beyond the control of the institutions.

It will never stop these schools from throwing more and more money at it though, regardless, which is killing the sport as we speak..and is throwing away money irresponsibly - and in many cases taxpayer money - along with it.

Yes I believe so. It was a fantastic game and after 4 years of GROB hell, it was such a great thing to see us win a bowl and have an 8 win season. And function like a competent football program again

A sneaky really, really good game.

No lie, one of the best sporting event days I've ever attended. I've been to a World Series game (granted, it was in Cleveland in 1997 and one of the coldest recorded World Series games in history) and that Pinstripe Bowl experience topped that. The culmination of having a really good season, a Yankee Stadium game, Billy's Bar pregame, the bowl win, a great post game dinner at Sparks Steakhouse where we ran into Nancy Kantor and Daryl Gross (I know, I know) was incredibly satisfying after so many bad years. It was just great.

- philosophy on defense (he mentioned stopped the run first)
- scheme and how it’s effective
- tackling, how can you teach tackling since that’s been a major issue
- recruiting territory
- good with coaches on staff? Need to bring some of your Toledo guys?
- can you bring a few Toledo defenseman that would fit?

In my humble opinion this was the definition of a Home Run Hire. Coach Kehres was 95-6 as a head coach and took a bad University of Toledo defense and made it very good. I am very excited to see what he is going to do for Syracuse University Football and I welcome he and his family to Central New York. Go Orange!!!
