Virginia has a COVID case - out of ACCT - potential SU impact?

The funniest(?) part of that day was people getting mad the NCAA canceled the tournament instead of postponing it to May or something. Totally unrealistic even at that time.

I just accepted the fate and drove back from Greensboro sad
To be fair, nobody knew how serious things were about to get in April and May. Today just brings another level of perspective to how everything just unraveled so quickly last Spring.

In the wise words of the OT boards favorite demigod, “SAD!”

;)

This part of the protocol is interesting. We may be in the clear given the 15-minute/6 feet rule.

"All Tier 1 participants will wear KINEXON contact tracing devices throughout the tournament, including practices and games. These devices, coupled with video analysis, provide data that allows total time measurement of those who are within 6 feet of a newly infected individual with COVID-19. The data will be utilized to assist with contact tracing and the need to quarantine participants. If close contact time with another individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 is less than 15 minutes over 24 hours, then quarantine may not be required."

There's a chance (unless it was one of the post players) that our players wouldn't have had that contact.

Does NYS still have the quarantine requirement for close contact exposure, like how we had to shut down immediately after UB? If so, that's mean's we're already done, right?

I'm guessing the team is already back in Syracuse, so can't hang out in NC to avoid this if it's still a requirement...

This is making the ncaa look like a clown show.

Every other sport has made this work without impacting their championships. These Conf tourneys followed so quickly by the ncaa were so clearly a bad idea. Yet here we are.
Conference tournaments should have been a week earlier to give enough time in case of a positive test.
However we lose the wins over UNC and Clemson if they did that.

This basically falls on Virginia’s player for being in a spot to catch the virus.

I’m pretty sure teams are told to stay at their conference tournament locations until Saturday or Sunday if they are likely to be an at-large

Here's the medical protocol for the tournament. The way it's worded it does seem you're correct on this. Link
COVID-19 testing and contact tracing will not be required for asymptomatic Tier 1 individuals who are at least two weeks post-infection and within 90 days of the first known date of infection, or participants who are at least two weeks post their second COVID-19 vaccine (or singular COVID-19 vaccine for FDA approved vaccines that require one dose only). These groups will still be required to wear masks and physically distance.

Does this mean buddy and joe are held to different standards because they have had covid?

I would imagine the Cuse team members and coaches, etc who have already HAD Covid, would have a different standard than those who have not.

I mean - that makes logical sense to me.

Which means, there's NO way the NCAA even considers this factor.

One would think, yes. That is basically saying they have the antibodies in that time frame and should be immune to COVID.

I saw yesterday that they were going back to Syracuse. Hoping to book a flight last night or this morning. Also, NYS quarantine rules would only apply to practices. It would not preclude them from leaving the state.

All i know is anyone who didnt play Woody Newton, Ajak, Frank should be isolated from rest of team so if we did get Covid on our team atleast we should have 5 guys test negative and be able to play.

I mean, at that point might as well just throw in the towel anyway. Would be better than losing by 50.

We'll have a starting lineup of Anselem, Ajak, Edwards (the tri-towers), Griffin (who didn't play enough to be exposed), and Woody. That zone would certainly have the length!
