The Deacons are 9th in scoring defense in the ACC allowing 24 ppg. We allow 26.7. In total defense they are 8th giving up 354 yards per game. Rushing D they are 10th allowing 171 yards per game. Their strength seems to be pass defense where they are 4th with a 183 yards allowing per game.

We can have those mistakes in every game (and have), but I just don't think Wake is all that tough. We have played a MUCH tougher schedule than they have and I suspect that their D numbers will suffer as the conference schedule unfolds.I wonder if this is just because teams choose to run against them and don't pass much, or because they shut down the pass forcing the run but can't stop it. My only worry is that in the passing game, we lose the game or keep it close by potential mistakes... dropped passes or INT's.

Their biggest problem is their offense + 225 net yards in the two games vs FSU and UL.
If we lose this game I will shut up when the crazies call for everyone's head.
Give me a rundown. Why is there so much confidence on their part in their D?
Certainly true. While it is quite possible that we just aren't very good, I don't think that is the case. We can move the ball and Wake just can't. We gain 200 yards per game more than Wake - actually double 412 to 212 again, versus harder opponents.I don't disagree but... just because we've played a tougher schedule doesn't make us the better team. It's very possible we just aren't very good, just like WF. I don't know. We haven't played that impressive when playing what should be our "peers" or what we think are our peers. This WF game should be very telling I think.

Wake shares our RZ issues. We are 12th in the ACC in RZ conversions and Wake is 13th. However, we have been there 23 times and Wake has been there 18. (BTW Clemson is dead last in the ACC!)
We solve our RZ issues and we might be a fairly good team.
Gooooooooooood. Goooooooood (in Avery creepy an emperor-ish voice)I'm usually very positive and optimistic but if wake game doesn't go our way, gonna lean towards the dark side
I'm with you on this one. I really feal positive about long and his ability to get our offense moving. He really had nice drives vs FSU. Sure he's gonna have a few mistakes Saturday but he will throw 3 tds one rushing 250 pass 58 rushing and PTG goes for 109 and one TD.There defense is good but we put up 20 against Florida State...they're no Florida State defense plus Long might play the whole game allowing him to get in rhythm. I think we are fine in this game and win 28-7
