Yes, it’s weird looking.

It's kind of like our old Freeze Option - slow to develop behind the line of scrimmage to give the O line time to engage their blocks and for the back to look for the hole.

The key for Wake's approach is that they get into a tight bunch, almost like a rugby scrum, which makes it more difficult for the D line to penetrate. It's like something from the ancient past.
