Wake Forest Postgame

I remember this too and was wondering what that would even mean.

Maybe he's talking about some alternate universe where basketball teams don't play defense.
Because they most certainly play defense in the NBA. That's why so many of our former players who can score like crazy can't stick on a roster.

biggest problem with reds rotations is that almost every single player on the team is a poor defender

the "good defenders" arent good offensively and the players who are good shooters/scorers are the worst on the team at defense

red subs based on defense, imo...

it seems there isnt a good combination of players that will do all of the things necessary as a team

another problem, though, is that the amount of playing time these guys get is seriously impacting their confidence level...and making them into different players, basically

when choppa is hitting his shots and doing his thing, he plays great...otherwise, hes struggling...same goes for bell, davis, etc etc

when you play cuffe or taylor extended minutes and get them shots its like they turn into different players and vice versa for the guys who get benched...

i love freeman but he gets beat a lot on defense,,,,outmuscled consistently

and lampkin cant jump...can only defend his own man...

idk...

it all goes back to whatever they were thinking in portal season. i thought they had a good team there...although i was very worried about PG and carlos...(for good reason). i think if this team had a legit PG they woud cooking right now, tbh

well...so what to do now???

for me...you just have to play the best players...and figure it out from there.

for one, carlos has horrible metrics and stats...he is one of the worst players on the team but red plays him 40/game...he is a loser. a losing player, regardless of whatever stats he compiles.

PLAY THE BEST PLAYERS THE MOST MINUTES and go from there

I seems to me that moving forward we should ask ourselves if any other major program would hire the coach were about to hire. Shafer, Red...no program would hire them. Even Robinson could have swindled someone based on his super bowl and Texas DC stints.
this is exactly the hill I’ve been dying on. What other p4 school would have hired red? No offense to red, he surely would be hired as an assistant somewhere, but I don’t think one team in potentially D1 would have sought him out to be their HC. That alone tells you that we made the wrong hire IMO

Best logical and reasonable post on this in a long time
Too many recent posts, honestly have been trash

Exactly! I was saying this in 22/23, I don't recall Red ever interviewing forget a P5 job, even a HC job in a mid major league, A-10, MAC, Patriot, anywhere along the east coast etc. Don't remember hearing his name mentioned for any openings, very different from Hopkins interviewing at Bonaventure, USC, etc. Hopkins was in demand. For Red, there was NO market for him and yet we wanted to transition the 6th winningest program in CBB to him.

And then the rumors he got a 4 or 5 year deal at $3 million? He would have taken the job for $1.5, lol. He would have crawled across broken glass to sign the contract to be the head coach and see what he could do.

I hope he was told, you get a relatively short audition to show progress. Last year was a half step of progress, this year is 2 or 3 steps backwards. At this rate, how we continue this for Year 3 and beyond is sad.
