Wake Forest Postgame

Each game I try and figure out why we went all in on Eddie. Red talks about pushing the ball but Eddie isn't mobile. He is the poster boy for a half court set.
Red watched the final four last year and decided he needs a Big Ol Pony in the middle so he got the biggest pony in the portal in Lampkin.

Debating lineup changes and minute allocations for this team is the very definition of rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.

In this case the deck chairs are 9 players who wouldn’t crack the rotation of any of our teams from 2009 to 2014. The sheer magnitude of the talent misevaluations and utter lack of player development is unfathomable.

It’s the latter that just kills me. Everyone has gotten worse! Even Kyle who could make the occasional 3 and had good form looked awful shooting. His hands are all off to the side of the ball

I'm seriously worried about how this awful season can impact next season. Will Donnie bail to another team if he is not predicted to be a 1st rounder? Will Choppa portal? Will Kiyan and/or White decommit? If any or all of these are possible, what can be done to prevent this? My answer is to bring in a respected and veteran coach.

A Carlos-Cuffe backcourt isn't going to win games in the ACC. But then there just isn't much to choose from. And again Freeman plays only 23 minutes? Why isn't the offense run through this guy, the most talented player on the squad? We have better odds with him taking the shots rather than these other "challenged" players. Clang.
The problem with Freeman is he has no " I'm on a team" mentality.. He has no hustle and no killer instinct. There's no way he's a first round pick and definitely no way he's a lottery pick like most thought. I think he was highly overrated, he is definitely gone after this season.

He is a very young man that is skilled and talented but not an alpha dog. He needs a coach or coaches who can push, teach and develop his talent. There are very few players who are natural stars who have it all, can figure it out on their own and do not need active coaching motivation.

And to add to this if you want Freeman to dominate then you need to run the offense through him. He is a talented Freshmen and goes too long without a touch or a shot in the game. He isn't a guard so you cant just give him the ball at the top and ISO him you actually have to run sets for him. The big issue with that is we don't run a set offense so he goes too long without the ball.

If he’s gone he’s playing somewhere in college. I watch the Knicks a lot. Just imagine Freeman trying to guard OG, Hart or any other forward on the Knicks. Thibs would cut him after the first practice.

Basically goes back to the Coach and I say this as a Red fan who wants him to succeed.

He lacks strength. We knew this coming in so an emphasis when he got here this past summer should have been a strength program. We just aren't good at developing players.

Not necessarily overrated, as a lot of players are like Freeman but get good coaching and development as they are ranked on "potential". We are not good at developing players and getting them to reach or get closer to that potential.

I agree he has a ton of potential, and agree more with your take on the coaching

It’s hard to teach “motor”. He just doesn’t play hard enough. That’s his biggest problem with his defense. He doesn't stay intense or engaged defensively. It’s the number one reason he sits and didn’t finish games early in the year. I always said if a coach has to teach getting players to play hard, you’re in trouble. You have to know who you’re recruiting. We needs some dogs that are strong and tough. Taylor is the closest we have. Cuffe and Davis have a little of it. Our best defensive big is Petar. He’s our only big who knows how to set a screen. If you watch closely, the only time in games we get shooters open is when Petar sets screens.

wish we had the chance to watch him develop . think of guys like wallace, wendell or damone brown who grew into their frames and excelled. he should be wearing #44 .
