We got a non-conference schedule for 2014...

I guess I disagree with most here about the MetLife games. I think they are good business for SU -- keeping a presence in NYC Metro. Be seen. Yes, we could draw better. Yes we could win. But you have to start someplace. I think, however, that these games should be every other year.

Update: Looked at my long range calender. I should be organizing something for CMU. I'll keep it pretty simple and buy like 50 tickets. More to follow in February.

Also, throwing it out that I nominate the Maryland Game on September 20th to be our annual Board Tailgate.

I also expect to do a bigger Fine Mess Tailgate at one of the ACC venues in October or early November.
It probably won't be Clemson. I have to find one that fits my schedule and is easy to work with. It will probably be a school like Wake Forest, BC (tailgate at a bar) or Pitt.

Leaning to Wake, BC, Pitt in that order.

Metlife Stadium capacity is 82,566 I bet we see 25K Syracuse fans and 57k Notre Dame fans for an SU home game and I am being optimistic in my SU projection.

Only 13,000 SU fans vs 65,000 ND fans?

Pure speculation, but can't discount the possibility. Especially given the rabid nationwide fanbase that the shamrockers have.

SU controls at least half the tickets...if they are smart they have a presale for season ticket holders first. We (Fine Mess) should get dibs on our seats used in the past.

Mark we only control half? Is that official? Who controls the other half? If Notre Dame controls half of the tickets then I will freaking call Gross and personally will work on buying SU out of this contract.

Technically MetLife controls them all...SU Ticket Office is a conduit.

If Metlife controls the game honestly we won't get 25k then IMO. With ND in the game Metlife will have no incentive to work with SU if they can just put the game tickets up for sale and likely not have to discount the tickets for SU to buy them when ND fans will pay for them. If SU doesn't have language in the contract to get a certain number of tickets then I will be even more upset.

SU wouldn't sell 25k anyways. I'm sure we'll get all we need. It's a matter of quality of our share of seats.

I think 25k is the high end we could sell that amount if we started off 3-0 next year or 4-0/3-1 depending on the 9-6 week if we play a conference game. I would expect 18k to 25k SU fans next year.

However, I am sure their will be decent tickets for the SU fanbase in the lower bowl, but the fact is if SU doesn't control half of the tickets then it will be closer to 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 with ND fans to SU fans for a Syracuse "home" game. However, the pro-Metlife people could careless about this embarrassment being shown on National TV because SU should be privileged and lucky to even be allowed to step foot on the Metlife field and all the privileges that come from this unbelievable honor to play a game in the metro NYC area.

wouldn't that be Central Bumble?

That would assume Michigan was bumble, which as we know, Michigan as a whole is the land of milk and honey.

then i suggest you stop thinking the Giants Stadium game is an SU home game and come to the realization that if Syracuse was to have a 7th Dome game...it wouldve been against a buffalo-esque program.

in front of 30k.

cha-ching!! cash that $$$ SUAD and play at Giants Stadium with all the too numerous to count advantages.

and that unsilent minority that thinks playing there is a bad idea can go themselves and continue to like the all blue uniforms, for youre stupid.

thank you.

First of all I dont like it, Why wouldn't season ticket holders want ND and PSU in the dome. If financial concerns warrent that we have to do this then I accept it.

Hopefully Wake isn't like our red-headed step children...

If there is a Wake tailgate, I have no problem coordinating the tailgate for the game.

Not going away anytime soon.

Estimated payout for SU Athletics is at a cool $5 million.

I figure Wake is our best choice. Group Tickets should be fairly easy to acquire. Tailgating I heard was very good. And we have a decent chance of winning...I think their QB and Slot WR/ST star will be graduated.

Clemson while a great atmosphere wil be too hard to work a group purchase.

Dome would be packed for a PedState or ND game. Even under Groober the Dome was packed for JoPa's swan song at the Dome.

SU doesn't get $5m for each game if that's what you're saying.

I respect you and know you know your stuff BUT I know for a fact this patiently false. I have had direct conservations with people in the AD office we got a 5 million dollar signing bonus and then another million dollar check per game depending on attendance incentives. We aren't getting 5 million a game or the Metlife people would lose money on each game and they wouldn't do these games. A 5 million dollar signing bonus is good money and getting 1 millionish per game is REALLY good, but we aren't making 5 million a game.

Your premise is to suggest that we don't consider a fact as a fact. That is genius I suggest you work as a press secretary for any politician because that is the crap they try to push.

The Notre Dame game next year is a Syracuse HOME game. Notre Dame is playing 5 ACC games starting next year. 3 of those 5 are at home in South Bendand 2 of them are not at South Bend one of them is @Florida State and the other is against Syracuse at Metlife Stadium. Everything I have said is a FACT. Syracuse agreement with Notre Dame that was going to play 2 games in South Bend and 2 games in Metlife got destroyed when Notre Dame moved to the ACC scheduling agreement. All 14 teams in the ACC are going to be playing Notre Dame in football, Syracuse because OF THIS STUPID BLEEPING agreement with Metlife is getting the least because Notre Dame will not visit the Carrier Dome for atleast 6 years because OUR HOME game is at Metlife. However, you are telling me ah just this isn't a Syracuse HOME game when it is EXACTLY that. Our "home" game will have double the fans from the other team, but because you like this game it is the same thing as people complaining about the uniforms. Again, BRAVO on the press secretary jedi mind trick of comparing apples to oranges Jay Carney could use your skills.

Playing a 7th home game gives a better chance to get a win and winning GAMES is what this program needs to do we aren't WINNING these Metlife games and playing these games don't help us on the field. Call a spade a spade you like the games for personal reasons. I HAVE NO PROBLEM with that I love playing in the ACC as I personally can get to games from Charlotte a lot easier than Big East garbage.

The blue uniforms tops are a JOKE and I agree with you on that.

You guys don't have to believe me on this one...I just requoted Brent Axe is all:

"While the series at MetLife Stadium isn't popular with all Orange fans, playing Notre Dame is an event no matter where they play the game. It guarantees Syracuse a good television date, a notch on the recruiting belt to say you play the Irish in an NFL stadium, and a healthy payday as well (estimated to be $5 million). You want to have a good showing in that spotlight if you are Syracuse."

There is no way Syracuse is getting $5M per game. My guess is they got $5M for making the agreement for the entire series and some % of the gate.

If they break the series they will probably end up getting sued and at the very least not get the rest of the $5M owed.

Why we haven't played EMU is beyond me.

Easier win, closer to where we actually recruit, more accessible.
