We got a non-conference schedule for 2014...

as for conference opponents that could play 9/6 here they are @bc, @pit, @wake, NC State, Louisville,

Even the game in NJ has nothing to do with not having a 7th game in the Dome. I'm still amazed at the number of people every year who are ok with SU being at a competitive disadvantage. Then they wonder why we don't win more games.

As tomcat said, the real problem is the ND game next year. NOT the 2-for-1 MAC deal.

Understand your complaint - but it is what it is. Need to move past it and give credit to Frazier for doing the best he could with the situation at hand.

This is how I feel 100%. I went to the Penn State game but don't want to continue with these dumb games. Next year's attendance at Metlife will be at best 25k SU fans and 46k ND fans for an SU home game. This crap has to stop NOW and nobody will have stones to question Dr. Gross to see if SU will control the tickets to the ND game. When Gross and co. let Metlife sell our home game to ND fans I will be writing Gross a pissed off letter and will be thank him for pissing on his season ticket holders so ND can give us the privilege of filling up our home game.
Confused? I was able to purchase the PSU game (up to 8 tickets) prior to general public sale through Syracuse as a season ticket holder. I believe this is the normal course. No?

season ticket holders should have the option of purchasing tickets with slight discount for being season ticket holder to all metlife games

We are at a competitive disadvantage because we average 39k Paid seats a game. We can't buy opponents for $1M like the really Big Boys. Getting a 2 for 1 from a MAC/CUSA/SunBelt school is reality.

I agree on the 2-1 comment. But it should have been one that would get us what we need. As far as competitive advantage, in the Dome is always better no matter how many in attendance. But that's SU's fault too as I will always maintain. They do no strategic thinking on schedule or attendance.

so 4 unlikely (fsu, ville, clemson, nd) and 8 where we have a shot. winning 6/8 is not going to be easy. ugh.

hoping strong and duke's coach head for greener pastures after this season.

Louisville won't have Teddy or maybe Charlie Strong.

What strategic thinking on schedule and attendance would you recommend?

People here wanted paid advertising in Aug and Sept for Clemson. Yet the game sold out anyway.

Agreed on getting what you need...but CMU was available and they just lost a home date (NCSt buyout). Maybe there was another BCS team involved and we had no leverage?
I will give Mr. Frazier a D+ for planning ahead...but in reality I give him a B+ for the OOC schedule results.

2015 is already a D+ in my book for planning ahead. 1 home versus CMU so far? We better be on the phone with Colgate for Opening weekend (if games versus Patriot League teams are counters). I know they are phasing in scholies.

I love opening Labor Day weekend with Nova in '14. A three day weekend, state fair attendance so the Dome crowd is going to suck anyways. Nova might possibly bring a couple hundred fans...more than Wagner and Tulane. It is a good way to start 1-1 and work on some schemes.

Until we get into the Top 25 on a regular basis...we need to open vs a FCS/lower 1A every season.

How the hell do we get to CMU?

Mt. Pleasant, MI...north of Lansing. This is where I hold out my hand (in true Michiganer fashion) and tell you Mt. Pleasant is approximately the lower knuckle on my mddle finger.

I know the Knapps are stoked.

I just might make it to the game.

Unconfirmed rumor on Nunes says that Ron Thompson was promised a game in Michigan if he were to commit to SU. No way to know if that is true or BS.

They cant scrap that Metlife contract fast enough. The first year was a fun and even this past years was a good time but the attendance hasnt been great, we havent won either game and the novelty is starting to wear off. Next years attendance could be particularly bad from an SU standpoint as I think a lot of locals are starting to question spending $500 to A 1G for a weekend on a game that should be played at home.
I agree totally with this. I attended both Melife games and had a blast. However, the price to attend, the time off work etc, is making these games lose its luster with me. I am seriously questioning whether I will go the the ND game next year. Bring these teams to the Dome.

You guys are all Fn nuts.

No way in hell do the Orange get 8 home games a year.

Only way to do that is to schedule down, which you all incredulously have dismissed as not an option.

Keep planting that Orange flag in jersey. Keep letting kids know the Orange play in Gods City. Keep a presence, Rome wasn't built in a day (although we could, and should, tear down the cny one in that timeframe). 35k show at Dome anyway, move 1 to Giants Stadium, collect the $$ that wouldn't have come to the Dome and win the ACC.

Keep playing in mid Sept too BTW.

Putting yourself in a position to have 7 games in the Dome. As to attendance, it's been discussed a zillion times. Need to restructure the whole donation level thing and start over. Always gonna be empties between the 20's unless we become a consistent 10-2 top 20 team.

Btw, Clemson didn't sell out and Clemson helped the numbers some.

100 level Preferred Seating between the 20s (or at least the 30s) should be individual seat backs and colored Orange. Make them about 2 inches wider than allocated now.

Downside: we probably lose a few hundred seats in capacity.

8 would be almost impossible. But 7 should be the desire in most years. If they did what you want, it would drive attendance down even further.

Agree it is what it is. And I do give credit for the proper SOS and opening with Nova. They got those parts right.

Folks the most active CMU forum is here:

Take out the extra "o" in the bad word. No permission needed to post if you are already registered with scoout.

A billboard would not have gotten the final couple of hundred people in there.

Agreed they need to blow up the pricing. The sightlines are so good why spend exponentionally more for a slightly better view.

All true but I didn't mention a billboard.

that is kinda weird-then again the guy who has the job for scheduling isnt close to good on his best day-
This is actual a brilliant move, look for a lot of our recruits are coming from this year...

In 2009, during Doug Marrone's first year as coach we played 8 home games.
home- Minnesota, Northwestern, Maine, Akron, West Virginia, South Florida, Cincinnati, Rutgers,
away-Penn State, Pitt, Louisville, UConn

Playing 7 home games a year should be easy now with 4 conference home games each year, and as soon as we get rid of the Metlife games playing 8 home games is possible if we played all cream puffs. If the ACC goes to 9 games then 8 home games is gone, but we should be playing 7 home games a year, and killing the Metlife games yesterday.

All true but I didn't mention a billboard.

The only billboard I would do is one or two year round billboards on I-81 North in Southern Jefferson County.

Three Themes: Coach Shafer thanking the Ft Drum Community and a schedule, switch over in early November to Coach Boeheim and Cuse Hoops w/schedule, off season SU Coaches Shafer and Boeheim thanking the Troops,
